You would have to be fucking retarded to believe Frederick Douglass was anything but African-American. The man is a well recorded figure in American history. Fuck you people are stupid.
I was referring to myself 😉

Ummmm.... Oopsie.... 😳
Never know round here what way someone is going some time!
Why does it need to be defended? It's a fucking arithmetic problem.
Are you bleeding hearts now anti-arithmetic because it can be used to quantify things which are scary and might hurt someone?

LOL +1 for math.900.
Indeterminate. I believe you meant to say that they divided 56 babies equally among them, but that's not what you actually said. You said "raped equally", but there's no real equality below all 8 raping each baby at least once. At that point all babies are equal in having had every soldier.
I agree completely. However, making stupid questions like these merely interfere even more with a proper education; now the attention is all on the phrasing of the questions rather than on the underlying mathematics.Social Studies is nothing but Social Engineering. That's some Marxist bullshit and it has been happening in the faces of everyone. I have no issue with Black History month, but we need to put far less emphasis on social concerns and more on the actual education of our youth. Want to know what they should teach children about how/why people are different? "They just fucking are, now do your math homework."
One math teacher could theoretically own hundres of slaves.I guess it never occurred to those reporting the story or discussing the story to actually look at the demographics for Beaver Creek Elementary School especially given the smart ass comment in the OP title:
American Indian 5
Asian 71
Black 286
Hispanic 746
White 54
Two or more races 37
It is a Title 1 school and hardly a candidate for a school that would have any kind of "South is going to rise again" agenda.

Whether the Teacher is "Liberal" or not is moot. I suspect though, that the Teacher(s) in question were not intentionally being Racist, but were indeed being stupid in an attempt to make this integration.
Good catch. It's still stupid to phrase these questions thus. These children need to have education beaten into them, not the history of slavery. If they get the idea that slavery is highly important to them today, they are unlikely to spend as much effort on actual academic subjects. For that matter, any phrasing that draws attention to the phrasing rather than the underlying math is counterproductive, but especially provocative phrasing is especially counterproductive.I guess it never occurred to those reporting the story or discussing the story to actually look at the demographics for Beaver Creek Elementary School especially given the smart ass comment in the OP title:

Slavery math - politically correct
Twin towers victims - outrage
You guys got your conservative panties in a knot over a muslim community center 4 blocks from ground zero.
Maybe I would have a little more respect if there was some consistancy in your hate.

Title is spot on considering some southern administrator knowing the demographic of the school thought it was completely appropriate to teach this.
The Principal of that school is that fine old son of the South Mr Jose DeJesus. 🙄

A social studies lesson on Frederick Douglass prompted a Beaver Ridge Elementary School teacher to use slavery beatings to teach math concepts on a homework assignment, Gwinnett Schools officials say.
"These particular questions were an attempt at incorporating some of what students had been discussing in social studies with their math activity," said Sloan Roach, Gwinnett Schools spokeswoman. "One teacher developed the questions, another made the copies and it was used in four classes."
One of the teachers involved in the incident is Hispanic, Braxton said. The district would not release the teachers' names or races. All involved are being questioned about their role and are still employed with the district, Roach said.
Records show that of Beaver Ridge's 1,261 students, nearly 60 percent are Hispanic; 28 percent, African-American; 5.3 percent, Asian; and 4 percent, white.
