ME2, like Dragon Age is built for the console crowd. Simple is key.

I'm probably not getting this until it drops in price. If I wanted a good console RPG, I will buy a PS3 and get FF13 for a properly done console RPG.

Dragon Age was by no means built for the console. The PC version was designed first and the interface and gameplay work best on a mouse and keyboard. The console versions were criticized because the interface on them sucked and the overhead camera was missing.

I like the Citadel (so far).

You can buy a Space Hamster!

Also, getting every single shop in the place to play your endorsement as your "favorite store in the Citadel" is hilarious.

There's a lot to like about this game so far. But...

Bioware....please fire your UI designers.

If you've got 3 big options, and I double click one, it should open. I should not have to then click on another, much smaller 'go' button.

It's like Mass Effect is the series where they try to mess up the UI. ME1's horrific inventory, now this stupidity.

I'm enjoying it - sure it's a bit stripped [dumbed] down - but it's very enjoyable. They even put in a character that talks just like another character [robot] in the KOTOR series 🙂

Does that planet scanning mini-game (2:48) suck as bad as it looks like it does? That looks about as much fun as fishing in WoW.

It is. But it's forced on you since you need to get the resources to upgrade your weapons/ship, etc. And upgrading your ship is ESSENTIAL for the ending.

this game's only shortfall compared to ME1 was the "dumbing down" by removing inventory and indepth skills.

in every other category it shames the first one. definitely worth the playthrough.

Anyone else think it is quite a bit harder than the last game, at least as far as combat goes?? Using cover is essential i guess. I also hate both new minigames. What is the point of having to play them over and over?? It just interrupts the game and slows down the progression of the story. Also I can only see the full map vary rarely. Most of the time I get only a small circle and an arrow to show which way I should go. Am I doing something wrong?

Otherwise, I like the game though, but maybe not quite as much as the first one. Kind of like Modern Warfare 2 maybe, perhaps expected too much.

Do enemies constantly rush you and swarm you? I'm playing through ME1 right now again, and I keep having to lower the difficulty because my teammates are retards and the enemies keep rushing to the point where it's unmanageable.

Eh? Even on Insanity the game was ridiculously easy. Soldier + best assault rifle = win always. I never even needed the other guys except to open crap. Done right you almost never even get hit.

Supposedly the AI is fixed and isn't as retardedly easy to manipulate as it was in ME1.

Performance of ME2 is just unbelievable.
Running 2560x1600, everything maxed with HD4890, smooth as it can be.
I hope they have more DLC soon.

Beat it last night with evil chick Sheppard with all upgrades. Spoilers aout ending

I was not a fan of the ending, it was a bit Empire Strikes Back in tone (without all the cool build up) maybe the paragon ending is better. The story payoff to why the colonists were disappointing had that "trying to be epic, but kind of falls flat" thing going on.

I'm about 80% done (estimate) and I know what I want to do differently if I play again immediately. I am an infiltrator this first time on normal and it's too easy. I was going to go Vanguard but the shotgun is pretty much all-around bad, so if you use a pistol or SMG you might as well be a class with better powers. It's either Sentinel or pure Engineer. Anyone have different input on the Vanguard?

My first playthrough as a soldier I thought it was incredibly easy once I leveled up. I'm trying an adept now and Im only level 9 or something, and it can be ridiculous at some points

ME1s combat gameplay was so dull, the gun play in ME2 is SO much better, not great but really good. Getting head shots is very satisfying since you actually have to aim at the head 😛

Also the narrative unfolds much more naturally you don't spends a lot of time hunting down NPCs and clicking through tons of text, the story flows much more naturally.

Also the Charge skill for the Vanguard is crazy fun!

In ME1 I played as a Vanguard. I ended up using the pistol almost exclusively, and tried to use as many of the biotic powers as I could. I would guess that in this respect, it might be better to go pure biotic if you want the biotic powers at all. I haven't tried out shotguns myself, though - just got through the intro ish as an infiltrator; looking forward to sniping the shit out of some doods.

I'm not a big fan of the Vanguard in ME2. The shotgun is near worthless. I mean, I guess it's more true to reality... you can't kill something with a shotgun 50 feet away anymore. I just feel like I'm super squishy and die really quick when I'm up close to the enemies... Thus, charge isn't that useful. It seems to stun the enemy for half a second, but that's about it.

Or am I doing something wrong? Vanguard was my fav class in ME2... now I just wish I picked soldier instead.

Which is kinda funny because Mass Effect was a dumbed down KOTOR.
Sweet jesus, we really are spoiling Americas youth!

The only aspect of ME2 that I am disappointed with is the mature content. I have already bed a party member and it was pathetically easy. Plus, the scene, unlike ME1, was in full clothing
(well, I wouldn't call what Jack wears full clothing, so I guess there was still side boob)
.

Other than that, I am loving this game.

Well fuck! I think I'm going to stop playing this game now until someone comes out with a nude patch. There's just no more point to this game now.

ME1 had some mature content - from what I recall, there was nekkedness, but you could't SEE the nekkedness..but you knew they were nekked and having sex.

I'm disappointed you can't get a nekked lap dance in ME2. I keep tipping and tipping the table dancer..but she just smiles and keeps dancing.
