I guess I was too young for this but I think the McDLT was a great idea. Crispy produce mixed with a hot burger. Yummmm.

I remember the McPizza and Arch Deluxe. Two good examples of a fast food company trying to hide its crappy food by needlessly changing up menu. IIRC, McPizzas were made to order, so took a long time. Guess they hadn't discovered the. Little Caesars hot and ready formula.

The McLobster I think is still a seasonal item in Atlantic Canada.

I had a few McLobsters in either Maine or NE Canada, and I thought they were great. I remember them as lobster meat in a hot dog bun. Fairly simple, but good. It could be that lobster on the West Coast is somewhat of a luxury, so I was easily impressed. I must have had 20 lobster rolls from different places while I was in the area.

The McDLT is the closest McDonald's has come to selling a real hamburger. There was nothing inherently wrong with it but the prep and packaging (it used a custom two-compartment styrofoam box) bogged down orders.

That's what makes the McRib so brilliant. It's awful, and if they offered it all the time it would probably lose money. By making it a limited time product they get sales from people who need to get it before it's gone. I don't get the mentality, but it exists. It's pretty damned smart

dlt and chicken wings were good. full sized fried chicken ok, but not kfc/popeye good. pizza was good for the price if you got it just out of the oven.

I vaguely remember the McHotDog in the 90s for a little bit at the local McDonald's. They also had buffalo/chicken wings at that McDonald's in the 90s, roughly mid-90s IIRC. Came with packets of hot sauce you could put on too; god those things were fantastic.

I really wish McDonald's would come back with the goddamn McCheddar though (I guess they have in places, but FULL TIME GODDAMNIT, AND IN MICHIGAN).

I remember being a kid, ordering the Arch Deluxe, and feeling like an adult eating it. I recall them having a promo with Ontario Lottery & Gaming for a brief period, where they came with a free lottery ticket. Was marketed as being the toy in an adult happy meal.

I also remember hearing the McDLT failed due to the packaging. Came out at a time when that wave of environmentalism was sweeping North America in the late 80s and early 90s. People didn't like all the styrofoam it wasted. It's why they moved all their packaging to cardboard.

When I was in Halifax a few years back, lobster was everywhere, and cheap too. I seem to recall some fast food chain, maybe it was McDick's, selling lobster rolls here for a limited time. It's too expensive to use the real stuff this far inland though. I'm not a huge seafood fan though. Halifax donair is where it's at.

Its kind of crazy how things like lobster and scallops are so cheap in that area. I got a basket full of giant fried scallops at Diary Queen in Digby for $5...Canadian not US! At the time it was around $1.30CA to $1US.

The Arch Deluxe was my favorite McD's product of all time. Was living in Canada as the time near a test store that had it...thought it was awesome. Honestly shocked it got such poor reviews and was removed from the menu.
