Could things be worse? Well ....

rump and McConnell had a falling out after the Capitol riot and Representative Troy Nehls wants to make sure he has an ally in the Senate.

The only major thing that could get worse in the Senate would be for a GOP House to actually pass a bill that would need to be filibustered by a Dem minority and the GOP Senate leader removing that filibuster. Something the GOP House was unable to do the last time they had control of the Senate. Removing the filibuster is much more likely to benefit Democrats (and thus the rest of us).

I personally would never underestimate the stupidity of the GOP and their ability to make things worse.

Anyone else find it odd that McConnell announces his retirement from leadership while his sister-in-law's death is being investigated as "suspicious"...?

Yea, his legacy will be the return of Trump when it could have been different if he had allowed the impeachment to continue in the Senate.

So you're saying you think Trump wins in November?

While I wouldn't call McConnell a "bulwark" against MAGA, when you start to lose him and the likes of Romney, you are opening the flood gates to all GOP House and Senate members being full MAGA.

What's the game plan then? Hope they're in the minority?

McConnell enabled the Magats. At least Romney speaks out against Magats. McConnell directly enabled and endorsed the Magats. McConnell was not a bulwark against the Magats, he was a bullwark for the Magats. McConnell has single handedly dragged us back to the stone ages in many ways. So fuck him.

Well from what I've been seeing from the Republicans, there's Democrat old and then there's Republican old where if you're an 80 year old Democrat it means you're walking worm bait whereas if you're a 90 year old Republican it means you've got a good shot at being Dictator-In-Chief 'til you drop dead.

McConnell will still have a lot of influence in the Senate.

So true. Mr. Grift-n-Graft still has aces, jokers and markers up his shriveled ass that he can pull out and leverage his way into any deal making going on in their caucus. However, the way I see it, he's got karma pissed off at him so karma has hopped on his shoulders and begun to get some payback for the way McConnell had skirted justice and fair play in order to cheat his ass off when it came to legislating for Team Trump.
