Hopefully the next guy will be less cunningly evil. Turtle has effed us with the clown court for decades.
John Thune just endorsed Donald Trump. Now basically every mainstream GOP politician has kissed the ring, so this is no longer all that noteworthy. My point is the next guy may be better than Moscow Mitch, but don't expect much separation either. Actually, Mitch is as close to a never Trumper as you'll find in the Senate GOP; he just doesn't have the stones to say it publicly.

Considering that Representative Government is almost over, it's pretty fitting.

McConnell's work will have been completed to the best of his ability.

Time for new Republican heroes like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor-Greene to take conservatism to its next, inevitable level.

Whatever you do, do not exercise your 2A rights and purchase a firearm and learn how to safely operate it. It'll lead to school shootings and mass murders at COSTCO as gun safes do not exist and firearms can easily mind control you to do whatever they want.

McConnell is a huge turd. But with the nutcases waiting in the wings, I just can't wait for the Senate to become even more dysfunctional as an institution.
This is what we've come to.

So, two thoughts ...

Either he's leaving due to health reasons or he doesn't expect the majority to switch back to GQP after the elections.

Or, a 3rd option ... his work is complete now that his SCOTUS has basically run out the clock for Trump.

Or he realizes with or without the majority, he no longer has any power. His big "win" to force compromise on the border for Ukraine aid was overruled by the new GOP.
That is the proof that the GOP has really changed over the years.
Right now, it's just WV that is gone.

I'd be shocked if any of those that you listed flip without severe shenanigans.
You never know about what is going to happen over at WV, all you need is a pro-coal and oil Democrat, and you might still have a slight chance of winning WV.
Hopefully the next guy will be less cunningly evil. Turtle has effed us with the clown court for decades.
Have you ever thought the current Democrat governor of Kentucky might try to run for senate to replace McConnell? That Democrat really has a chance of winning that senate seat.

Eh, I'm an almost lifelong resident. Even Manchin wasn't gonna win this year. Or, anytime in the foreseeable future. Super Trumpy here ... in a scary way.

I think he froze up again; 3rd strike. 'Step down or we're going to make a big deal out of this and that gets to be the final note in your career history. You can finish your term with dignity, just keep quiet.' He sees the writing on the wall wrt to the maga take over of his party. Things are looking futile and he's tired. Also about to die probably.

Was hoping a man this evil and harmful to the country would have a more humiliating exit, but we'll take what we can get I guess.

You repeatedly kow towed to and protected a traitorous CiC Mitch. You were instrumental in helping that traitor destroy the credibility of the SCOTUS with unfit, political activist judges. The effects of your racist christofascist agenda will continue to harm this country for decades to come. May your demise mirror some of the suffering and pain you spent so long to help create for others. I'll see you soon Mitch, thoroughly hydrated I might add.
Also stole a legitimate SCTOUS appointment from a President.
Then fast tracked another through under same circumstances.

Thought he could control the Tea-Party which morphed into MAGA, which he also thought he could "lead"

Now if we could only get rid of Rand Paul as well.

Also AZ went D and Sinema basically flipped to "I" caucusing with "R" (different post don't feel like finding it to quote)

I hope he has a very short retirement.

I'm the opposite. I hope he lives to be 110 years old. In that time frame of his remaining years, I hope he witnesses the reversal of all the shitty policies he set in place keeping us in the stone ages. I hope he dies knowing that ultimately, he failed.

That would be fantastic. And if that was guaranteed I'm in. Otherwise, a painful death, sooner than later.

Yea, his legacy will be the return of Trump when it could have been different if he had allowed the impeachment to continue in the Senate.

West Virginia is up, right?

Yes, Manchin is not running again and will almost assuredly be replaced by the current GQP governor Jim Justice. He's the WV version of Boss Hogg, except his $$$ comes from coal and from not paying his bills/taxes/etc.

Andy has said publicly that he’s not interested in the seat.
