Actaully the big and tasty costs about 15 cents to make. They set the price at 1 dollar to create a fan base for the sandwhich so they could raise the price and people who liked the sandwhich would still buy it. Last time I went to MC D's I got 3 Mc Chickens and a super size fry, it was tasty.
bullsh*t, show the cost breakdown. i've seen a few and materials take up a whole lot more then 15 cents. its not even remotely rational to think burger materials are 15cents.
I agree, 15 cents just doesen't sound right. There's no way. Buns, meat, condiments, toppings, wrapping.. that would average to 3 cents/item.
Not going to happen.
Where's CTrain(I think that's it) when you need him?
😀
Think about it. When you go to the grocery store and buy hamburger buns, you pay about $1.50 for 8 of them. Mcdonalds probably buys about 2000 at a time, and I'm sure they get a huge discount on them for buying so many because most of the costs on the grocery store buns come from bi-daily deliveries, packaging and store mark-up. When you buy 2000 buns at a time, you buy direct from the bakery (which elimates the store's fee) and you can have cheaper packaging because it doesn't need to look pretty. Additionally, this happens once or twice a week, so they know they have a continuous source of profit.
That's how fast food companies can afford to make hamburgers for so cheap. You buy cheaper ingredients in mass quantities, you get cut some fat discounts.
