Accepting the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, Mr. McCartney used the occasion to applaud President Obama. “Getting this prize would be good enough,” Mr. McCartney said. “But getting it from this president ...” He smiled.

Shouldn't Obama be spending his time, I don't know maybe, fixing the economy instead of attending a party for some random British dude? We're at 10% unemployment here. Those 10% are worrying about paying their bills while Obama and Congress party it up in the east wing. Obama can't resist missing a photo op can he? Outrageous!

Think of all the jobs created or sustained by this action! Party planners, caterers, valet parkers, publicists, PR, hair, makeup, the list is long.
Your just a jealous party pooper :)

If you can't even bother to spell Mr. McCartney's name correctly in your thread title, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised by an equal level of incompetency in your commentary.

What's the alternative? We could create a position that is largely ceremonial like the president in some countries or the queen in the UK.

I don't know. I think it's good to have some balance for the presidency.

I was outraged when I thought it was some sort of posthumous medal for Joe McCarthy.

I'd be outraged if it was for Joe or Jenny, both inhabitants of extreme lunacy.

You're a moron if you think the President doesn't wear many hats.

Do you think there is some job machine that he has to crank the handle on and he's goofing off?

I swear that some of you people seem to think the President is alone in the White House with all of the buttons and levers to run the country and if he's not pushing your favorite button at any given time, he's derelict in his duty.

I don't think hacp is a moron, but his post is more about payback to the Bush critics...

and it's interesting to look back on it now and examine it: how much of the criticism was warranted....

Must be a slow outrage day... but the usual junkies can apparently get off on complete bunk at this point, because they're desperate...

Whats even funnier is almost all of them do it. They just don't all do it at once and there is usually a long period of time between who is thinking/posting it.

I agree.

He is just a petty man who cannot think for himself.

A few months back when Poland's President died, Hacp was in the thread complaining about Obama was not doing his job. Now he does this.

It means nothing for his capacity to do his job, but the court of public opinion has little to do with the reality of the situation. Faux outrage can be all the more real than a real outrage.

The president is a mouth piece with the power to put people in various gov't positions. his job is not to fix the economy or fix oil wells. How is he qualified to do either?
