Considering the many comments I have read here and elsewhere, seems to me that McCain has indeed changed his position on things like robocalls and negative campaigning. One can peruse this site to probably find more examples.

There's nothing wrong with changing your mind in the face of new information, more experience or after extended cogitation on a particular subject, or simply to better serve a changing population/electorate. Being inflexible is not a hallmark of intelligence or maturity.
