Does a fwd car with 265 hp still have a big problem with torque steer?

FWD in itself is not the cause of torque steer. It is the fact that the drive shafts are of unequal length that is causing that.

Didn't Oldsmobile make a FWD car with a longitudal mounted big-ass V8 in the late 60's / early 70's or so? No torque steer in that one.

My FWD passat had a longitudal mounted V6.

Hatch only? Blah.

qft.

needless weight up top for the rollover and reduced cornering stability and more body roll ftl.

The difference in weight is probably negligible, and if you are any good at visualizing mechanical things, it should be obvious that it doesn't raise the center of gravity more than fraction of a centimeter, if at all. The practicality is more than worth it.

although nice. but i dont think comparison to the R32 is valid since AWD > FWD

Im just waiting for the R36 to arrive in the US in a couple of years 😀

I'm not strapping my girlfriend high up on the roof, so the effect is not the same. 😉

Yes, it would 🙂

Sweet car, glad to see something like this coming into the market.

hmm. it looks nice, I like.

Although, I like the new GTI's styling a bit better. I wouldn't mind seeing either on the road to drool at, heh.

being it's a mazda, it's doubtful it'll even break 200 HP at the wheels. 😛

The Mazda 2.3 Turbo is enough to propell the heavy MS6 from 0 to 60 in 5.4 sec (accroding to C&D roadtest). What Mazda needs to do is to mate the AWD system over.

it's not like a dual exhaust will decrease restriction over a single good exhaust. it's a Inline 4 engine not a v type engine which means that there is 1 line of exhaust ports.

Try again sparky.

From Edmunds.com:

Mazda 3s Hatchback: 2826 lbs
Mazda 3s Sedan: 2762 lbs

64 lbs -- about the same as Lindsay Lohan😉

exactly, there is only one cylinder head on inline engines, dual exhaust on an inline engined car is a waste of carrying around an extra 20 lbs in muffler dead weight.

Atleast we know now you're into cosmetics more than engineering.
