Transformers made a big comeback in 2003 with the Armada series, but that is mainstream stuff. The Armada series has ended and will continue with the new Energon series.

These Alternator/BinalTech models are aimed at the high-end, near adult market. As I said above, there is no cartoon for this one.

Not exactly Alternator/BinalTech, but still designed with the same philosophy, is the incredible Master Piece/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime.

Crap! Now THAT'S what Prime should have been like! Man, this 20th anniversary toy just towers over the first generation toy.....sweet!!! I can't wait for the live action movie!!

HOLY CRAP!!:Q

You think these will be worth something some day??? I used to play with Tranformers ALL the time when I was little. I think I bashed them all up as a kid. I might buy these two to lock away for safe keeping:)

The Japanese version of the Subaru comes in two models, #7 and #8. The US edition only comes with #8. #7 is the Collector's model. IIRC, #7 won the WRC for 2003. It's worth even more if you have the version signed by the drivers.

I think I'm gonna pick up one of the Subaru's from eBay for $29.99

LMAO :p

Keep in mind,

Alternators = US, Plastic
BinalTech = Japan, die-cast

The finish is MUCH better on the die-cast version, but you need to be careful with it otherwise you can get some paint chipping. FWIW, the Subaru was the *hardest* Transformer to transform that I have ever had. Because I was being careful, it took me over and hour to get it from car to robot and back.

Do you know of any other place besides eBay to pick these things up?

Both TRU and Target should have them, but it's the US plastic Alternators, not the Japanese die-cast. Price for the US version is about US$20.

Decepticons in the original, and Predicons in some of the later versions.

incredible, if they made one for my car I'd buy it in a sec.

The RX8 looks like a copy of the original prowl toy. Very cool flash stuff on mazda's website.

I would DEFINITELY recommend Big Bad Toy Store. I've been using them for years now and they are excellent. Make sure you get "classic" shipping or above and you're good to go. I've already got the japanese versions of the Subaru WRX, Dodge Viper, and Optimus...I've got the others on pre-order as well. All of these are die-cast and are AWESOME! They just feel solid (especially Optimus as he is pretty heavy). I'm waiting for the Jeep (Hound) to come out as he was my favorite when I was a kid. I might later on get the US versions but not too sure.
