my friend told me target will start carrying the plastic version of a WRX transformer. he bought a die-casted WRX transformer and it really kicks ass.

Yup. The new Alternators/BinalTech series of Transformers are licenced from car manufacturers for the design.

1. Subaru Impreza WRC 2003 World Racing Team
2. Dodge Viper SR-10
3. Subaru Impreza WRC (street version) (coming soon)
4. Jeep Wrangler (coming soon)
5. Mazda RX8 (coming soon)

These new Transformers are significantly more advanced and detailed than their predecessors.

For the Alternators/BinalTech series? No. There is no show for that.

The Armada series just ended. The new series, Energon, is just about to start.

The RX8 would be some time around the middle, or second half of the year.

The all-plastic US versions go for about US$20. The die-cast Japanese version goes for around US$55 or so.

1 and 2 are already out. Hasbro are releasing them at the rate of 1 every 2 months or so.

If you look closely at the animation it doesn't look like the car has seats

The Japanese issues, called BinalTech, are all Die-cast.

The US issues, called Alternators, are all plastic. The US release of the WRC was all plastic.

Cool, I didn't know they were still making Transformers. After it got perverted into the whole Beast Wars thing I thought that was the end of it.

Yeah...Beast Wars went to hell...

Car Robots/Robots in Disguise didn't do so well afterwards.

Transformers made a big comeback in 2003 with the Armada series, but that is mainstream stuff. The Armada series has ended and will continue with the new Energon series.

These Alternator/BinalTech models are aimed at the high-end, near adult market. As I said above, there is no cartoon for this one.

Not exactly Alternator/BinalTech, but still designed with the same philosophy, is the incredible Master Piece/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime.
