Calculus is faith based. :p
"If we chop up something really, really small so we can get it into approximately regular shapes and then smoosh all the pieces back together and cover with potter's slip, then we can get the correct size."

I prefer to cut a bigger hole when putting my shaped blocks through the shaped holes in the table.

In remarks recorded by New Hampshire Public Radio, DeSantis said: "We're going to have all these deep state people, you know we're going to start slitting throats on day one."

Ron's pretty far along on the insanity spectrum.

Ron's pretty far along on the insanity spectrum.

It's all the head bobbing. It's got to be it. It shakes the brain and cause all the connectors to loosen up, and then the unit malfunctions. Hell, the old Moscow Mitch model lasted about 80 years. They don't make conservatives like they use to. Shitty red neck engineering.

I say.... just F*** it !!!
Ok, let them have their president Donald Trump and or president DeSantis and let them have their MTGreene's and their Lindsey's and their Jim Jordan's and their dictatorship and their book banning and their Clarence Thomas and their Rudy Giuliani and their Sidney Powell and their fake electors and their fake elections and everything else that they believe so necessary to Make America Great Again.
Let them have it all.
Let them dismantle the FBI and the CIA and the justice department, let them send the cops after Blacks and Hispanics. Let them build a Wall 30 miles high and 9,826 miles wide thus enclosing the entire country in steel, brick and mortar.
And let Putin decide what is best for Ukraine, and if we need a NATO.

Yes, give them everything they want, everything they demand. everything they are willing to kill people over and terrorize people over and plot insurrections over. Let them toss gays and transgenders off of ten story buildings if they feel this is the answer.
Then, let's wait a year or two and just see who their boogiemen are now? Who they fear. Let's see who they blame when their "Great Again America" isn't so great after all. Let's just see what that "Great Again America" actually looks like?

Seriously, I'd simply LOVE to see that "Great Again America" they so envision and so desire and are so eggar to kill for.
However... I do not want to see that America up close, not me.... I want to be far far away when I witness that America. If America is still what they even call it?

Starting to see some backlash from companies. As much as I don't like the whole situation--and a bad Fl economy isn't great for me personally--way more of this needs to happen.

DeSantis’ ‘anti-woke’ bills are costing Florida millions of dollars in business
A slew of new bills signed into law by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has draped the Sunshine State in controversy, spurring protests, lawsuits and travel advisories warning the state is “openly hostile” toward people of color, immigrants, women and LGBTQ+ community members.

The fallout is starting to spread to a key economic artery for an income-tax-free state heavily reliant upon tourism taxes: Florida’s convention business.

In recent weeks, at least a dozen organizations have announced plans to either cancel or relocate their upcoming conferences scheduled to take place in Florida, making a statement by having their thousands of attendees and millions of dollars flow into other states deemed safer and more welcoming.

There's an exodus of teachers right now (on all levels up through universities) and I wonder if prospective students will start avoiding FL schools. Eh, they probably just care about the spring break beaches, at that age I wasn't "into politics" either.

Add union busting to the list of things DeathSantis has signed into law. This one clearly aimed at unions, specifically unions of public sector employees.

What it prohibits is the collection of union fees from an employee's pay check. And that one can quit a union at any time for any reason. This one is insidious. What it claims is to increase the take-home pay of workers in the public sector, but it's clearly aimed at union busting. Make it harder, or less efficient for unions to operate, then unions may have less members and lose power. When the unions have no power, give even worse employment terms to teachers and other public sector workers.

Teachers and others in the education sector already get the short end of the stick. Teachers are notoriously underpaid, and schools are notoriously underfunded. Florida Man wants to make it even harder for teachers. The state is going down the toilet fast.

We'll see if that bullshit actually makes it into schools. My kid has one more year in high school here. My understanding is that school districts still have a say, though just like with covid measures, Desantis will threaten all kinds of things surely if the districts don't submit. I'll specifically be asking mine about Prager "university" materials, but it's not just this.

There was pretty quick pushback on that recent ban of AP Psychology so there is some hope.

There still is decent education in the state--though not everywhere, our district is rated pretty well--and those of us that simply can't move immediately will have to do what we can to fight this. Attend school board meetings in force, hopefully. I'm not usually one to defend FL--I'd like to move and retire elsewhere--but remember this state went for Obama twice. Many of us feel that northern boomers moving here are a big, and not so good, influence on the state, and that Desantis (who barely won against a weak candidate in his first election) is a usurper.

Things getting shaky for DeSantis? A week or 2 ago he cut more that 1/3 of his campaign staff. Today he replaced his campaign manager.

He’s just not a likable or relatable guy. These dudes do fine in State Politics and poorly in Presidential runs.
I recently read he had a “have a beer with DeSantis” in New Hampshire. I think he had fewer than a dozen people show up. He’s just not the guy you want to sit around with, we all know he doesn’t want to sit next to us.
@pcgeek11 is this an accurate summary?

I'd read they dropped the price down to $1 (from $50) for that too, and still not a lot of takers.

I'd rather drink a beer with Desantis than I would with any other politician that I can think of off the top of my head...

I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it though...

Unfortunately I think Trump is going to be pushed into being the GOP Nominee by the left wings continuing persecution which keeps his loyals stirred up.

Trump controls the party. Even if he ends up in jail I wouldn't be surprised if anywhere from 25-50% of conservative votes were write-ins for him on the ballot

What does it say about your party that the more crimes someone commits, the more popular they become? Can't wait until the Trump publishes Mein Kumpf 2 from his prison cell.

Also I love how it's the "left wings persecution" not the fact he has committed many, obvious crimes. And also the blaming liberals for making your party vote for him.

By persecution do you mean his prosecution is unwarranted?

Yeah, the Republicans act the way they do because the mean 'ol Left. Heard it a million times from people around me--I'm in Conservative Country (which isn't quite as weird as Bat Country)--it's tried and true. It's all just an excuse to act the way they want to, and a way to lay blame for outcomes that don't come out in their favor due to their own actions.

I'd love to have a beer with Desantis, especially if it's in a heavy glass mug so I could hit him upside the head with it, fascist prick that he is.

Trump has one man to blame for his "persecution" and we all know who it is. Anyone not named Trump would have face far more consequences for his words and actions. He's already threatened people after being told not to, any of us would be tossed in jail for that.
