Things I have learned about this case... that I should have posted in my thread on this subject, but will post here:
The grandmother said she was only gone for 5-10 minutes. Which cannot be true, cause she said she went to make dinner. Now, unless she was using a microwave to reheat some fast food, it would have taken her more than 5 minutes to make dinner.
The car was full of bags of cement. They said that all this cement and the dust it created, hastened the suffocation of these boys. If a cop went over and looked in the back seat, he would have seen all these bags of cement there and figured the kids would not fit in the car. He was not aware that the trunk was broken or whether or not the trunck was full of cement or just the back seat was. He probably look at the back seat, saw it piled with stuff and assumed that the trunk was the same. Poor assumption, yes... criminally negligent?... dont think so.
This is not the first time these kids have played in this car. The car belonged to the grandmother of one of the boys and the fmaily has said that they played in there before. One would think that if parents are gonna let little boys this age and mental capacity go unattended and unsupervised, they would look at all the placed they play when their kids go missing. Failing the fact that they did not look themselves, they should have mentioned this area and the car to the police when they were making a list of all the places the kids liked to play or where they might be.
I find it incredible to believe that in all the time the kids were missing NO ONE thought... hmmm...they like to play in the car, let me go look... instead they did not look in the car until they needed jumper cables for something else.
This sucks. The whole thing sucks. Three little boys are dead and it is a total tragedy. But ... I think that if the parents are not gonna watch their own kids... who go missing... and they do not look for them where they know the kids like to play... then they should at least be complete/detailed in telling the cops where to look.
I would bet that the cop who checked the back seat, but not the trunk, is probably feeling like sh!t right now and will for a long time to come. I do not see how possible lawsuits/disciplinary action will help this situation... except to make him feel worse.. and more likely... to ease the guilt of the parents who were not watching their children and did not look in known likely places themselves.
