One quick question about the $50 rebate on a Maxtor ATA100 PCI card plus a Maxtor drive rebate. The rebate says both items must be purchased in "combination." But when I bought the drive, I didn't even know about the rebate, plus Amazon didn't even have the controller card, so after buying the drive from Amazon, I bought the controller at Staples a few days later. Is Maxtor going to give me trouble about this rebate?

simmike2.
As far as I know, you have no problem at all. Just follow the instruction on rebate form. Some people called Maxtor and confirmed this matter.

Just got my drives from OfficeMax (finally!), purchased @$119 each
during the special. They're all the 45Gb/UDMA100 variant...A
nice little bonus!

I am in the Boston area...

Tommyli, how did you get tax exempt in the u.s. Did you tell the store that you're from canada? Do you need any special tax exemption certificate?. I go to U.S. quite often but I have to pay tax.

I called my local office depot to see if they had any in stock yet. The guy said no but they were selling the Western Digital for the same $40 off $129. Only problem was they were out of stock on them.
