Mine says "short shipped" too. How do we call and get it ordered at the new price and get the "pro-rated" $40 off? What does a "pro-rated" coupon mean and is it the same $80 coupon? How will they even honor the "pro-rated" $40 off anyway? robert

I called to find out what short shipped meant and was told because illegal coupon was used the order was cancelled.

Mine now says "Deleted - Created in Error", too, from a change earlier today of "short-shipped". Last night the online order info was just like my email confirmation! I guess i won't be getting it. And how can the coupon be called "illegal" when they not only advertised it but accepted it when an order was placed?

Well, here's the current situation as near as I can figure it. I am one of the people who ordered on March 20, and now my order page is saying "Delivered Short Shipped." The CSRs say this means the order is CANCELLED, and the reason why is that the coupon we used was only meant to be used instore at that one CA store. The woman I just spoke with said the coupon code was "leaked," and the coupon itself states very clearly that it is only good instore, at that place, but somehow OfficeDepot's computers were accepting the coupon code mistakenly. She said that when they realized this mistake the warehouse started cancelling the orders placed via phone and internet, but not before some had already shipped. There is NO WAY they will honor the sale price because it was never meant to be good anywhere besides San Jose, for the grand opening of this 1 store. So, I asked about the $40 pro-rated coupon, or whatever. She hadn't heard anything about this, but said she would ask her supervisor. She actually was very nice, she really wanted to get the deal for me. But the supervisor said that there is no "pro-rated" coupon, no $40 price drop, or anything of the sort. The CSR asked if I knew the name of the guy who said he got a $40 pro-rated coupon, because she could check his order and if he got something she would make sure I got the same treatment. But I don't know hiw name, and since he's such a freaking idiot that he got his a$$ kicked off the forum I suppose there's no way to find out. I suspect he was lying though. So, it's a shame, I was pretty excited. Oh well, there'll always be another deal.

Still hoping, here.

Still says "on the truck".

Anyone have an "on the truck" turn into "delivered short shipped" or "cancelled"?

Mine says "on the truck" as well. I live in a small town and the closest Office Depot is about 75 miles away. I have seen an Office Depot delivery truck driving around town before so I assume they are going to deliver it to me personally instead of UPS, FedEx, etc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they don't ask to see a coupon.;)

Use the date on the drive IF you lose your proof of purchase.
Otherwise, Maxtor goes by the date on your receipt.

So I guess they stopped giving 3 years on their harddrives.

I win! I win! So my order was cancelled, but I had written a bit e-mail to customer service, explaining that "While I am sure that
she (the CSR who told me that the coupon was only good while supplies last) is correct, according to the letter of the law, I find it highly unfair that Office Depot will not honor the price I apparently bought it at. So, I am requesting that my order be honored, that the hard drive be placed on backorder for me, and that when you get more in stock you ship one to me at the same price. Please don't tell me that I will not receive it because it was "while supplies last," or that my apparent order was due to a technical glitch. I am not writing to dispute whether the fine print says you do not have to honor this price; I am simply writing as a faithful customer of Office Depot who expects fair and generous treatment. I appreciate your reply." So today I get an e-mail back from some manager saying that she is sorry, I deserve better treatement, and they want to give me the original deal. It's coming tomorrow! Just shows that perseverance and hard work pay off!

YEP!

A guy in an unmarked white truck came by about 10 minutes ago, and put a box on my front porch.

I grabbed the box and opened it - receipt for $75.24

Contents: 160 gb Maxtor Drive 8mb cache AND a FREE 5" B&W TV with AM/FM Radio.

I guess I'm a lucky one today.

Came in a big box with no bubble wrap/foam. :disgust:

Checked my Warranty Status - 4/18/2005.

Got mine today - just like the others, thrown in a big box with no padding:Q
But I'm happy I got it at all. Now I have to get a ATA 133 card.

Keep your money. ATA133 is just marketing.

No IDE hard drives can reach over 40~50MB transfer speed.
Even WD Raptors top out at 55MB/s.

For those who missed out on the deal, Ebay is simply flooded with them. There are so many the price is right around $70+shipping (watch out for shipping ripoffs).

A friend of mine ordered one of these on the 19". On the 20th he noticed the order had been cancelled for being out of stock or something. He took a printout and went to his local store. The drive was now $109 and they honored the $80 coupon code.. The lucky SOB got his $160GB for $29....grrrrrrr at that price I could of got 20!

My order showed "Delivered Short Shipped" also. I called, and CSR said it was cancelled due to being out of stock. She reordered the item for me... and it's priced at $69.95. No coupons. Backordered for a week or so though.

timmychen....how did you get the csr to reorder it for you at that price? I tried getting it for less than the $109 something last night and couldn't. Are the csrs able to give it to you for any price? Did she use a coupon code? thanks, robert
