I went last night to pick mine up, and the manager told me this was supposed to be a regional deal, and that I had to have the actually coupon so he could scan the barcode. I told him to cancel the order, but then asked if he could let me slide by since my server drive is losing its spindle motor. He gave it to me. I got lucky, but it really depends entirely on the manager on duty, so be aware of that.
I believe this to be the case. Seems if they want to be a prick they will deny you, otherwise you're good to go.
According to OD online cart it's valid today as well.
As of this morning, ordering online, I clicked the "Verify Coupon" button on the cart page and it said: "Coupon Valid"
If they go to the effort of putting a coupon verify feature on their cart, I expect it to be accurate.

Mine's supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. After I placed my order I rememberd that I had a $20 off $75 coupon which they sent me in my e-mail recently. I called customer service to see if they could apply it. The first lady I talked to said "no, because it's abuse of the system," but the second lady said no because it can't be applied to technology items. I guess that's a better excuse. I know it says no technology, but I thought only the items at techdepot.com count as "technology." Oh well, it's an awesome deal.

first when i tried to order, it said it was on backorder and the coupon rang up as -$0.00 and price was $0.00... so, i was kinda worried whether or not the coupon would get applied when it came off backorder... so i called and talked to a lady who said it would be safest to just cancel and keep checking back in. so.. that's what i did. 2 hours later, i re-add the thing to my cart and worked like a charm... delivery is set for the 23rd w00t!!!

I just picked mine up this morning, I ordered last night, printed up the coupon. First thing this morning (9:30 am) i head down to Office Depot with my email and coupon in hand. I take it to the first cashier who approaches me, she goes in the back, gets my hard drive, comes back, asks for the coupon, dl and cc. While she checks info I notice that her invoice clearly states at the top to the page: "Attention: tried to contact costumer, number disconnected" (Glad I just switched cell phone carriers!!!)
ANyway, she checked the cc/dl info and handed me the drive. I walked straight to my car, and drove off...

I have a question though. How strong are the things that they use to deactivate the alarm sensors? I didn't think the harddrive had any, but the lady that was helping me took my drive and swiped each side like 50 times before giving it back to me. I asked her if it was safe to be doing and she just replied with, "Oh, I have to do this so the alarm doesn't go off." There's a picture near the thing with items you're not supposed to put on there. Credit cards, floppy disks, etc. So how safe is it really? Any damage to the drive? Thanks.

Since you'll be formating the drive, it really wont affect your drive in anyways.
If the magnet (I think that's what they use) is strong enough, it will only erase data which you do not have in the first place.
You'll probably do more damage by dropping the box, really.

First of all, the outer casing of the drive is metal, and acts as a shield.
Second, there is a far more powerful permanent magnet inside the drive as part of the voice-coil assembly.
Thirdly, IF the anti-theft-device-disabling-magnetic-pad somehow had a magnetic field strong enough to penetrate the metal casing and affect the magnetic domains on the media itself, then the drive would be unusable. It is not possible to low-level format modern HDs in the field, they ship from the factory hard-sectored. But thankfully, due to 1 and 2 above, that's really not an issue.
But dropping a HD will definately cause issues, far more than an external magnetic field ever could. Usually head assembly damage, and possibly media damage. Head assembly damage will make that entire platter or drive unusable, media damage only makes that part of the drive unusable.

The asst mgr was really cool and even called the office depot people to see why there was a hold on my order.
I thought he was gonna ask me for the coupon, but the CSR gave him the coupon code and that was all they needed.
The CSR purged my online order and the asst mgr rung me up right there with the coupon code.
Final price with tax was $73.15
So sweet.
