Well, using the 30 off 150 is very YMMV because the after PM price is 109. but its very likely you can add a 20 off 100 at this point and get it for 90.

*IF* you use the $30 off $150 you *MUST* order online FIRST, and then call to PM Best Buy after about 20 minutes have passed.

The reason the $30 off $150 still works is for some reason the CSR doesn't see the coupon has been applied when you call to PM *AFTER* you have placed an *ONLINE* order.

If you don't want this hassle, then do the $20 off $100...nearly as good obviously.

The difference is with the $20 off $100 you *CAN* do the whole thing on the phone from start to finish. With the $30 off $150, it is best to place order online first and then call to PM Best Buy after about 20 minutes have passed.

Get me? It does work guys...you may need to call 1 or 2x...but seriously...for these prices it is worth a little work and the worst that happens is they say NO and you cancel your order. Pretty simple.

Okay, that's what I need to know. Thanks sk3tch. I'll do what you suggest. I'll just do an internet order and then call in later on and get a price match. I don't mind if there's some work to be done to get it $10 cheaper. Just wanted to know a sure way to getting the deal method working.

Yeah, I would think the 30 is a YMMV too. I got in on the 160 deal last week (drive should show up tomorrow) and the CSR was great, took maybe 1 min to confirm the price and voila. I'd be tempted to get in on this too but really can't afford it 😉

Cool. I tried the 30 off 150 online thing on the 160GB deal and they did indeed see the coupon and I got shot down repeatedly 🙂 but all the csrs said the 20 off 100 was fine so thats what I ended up doing. Certainly if you can pull the 30 off the more power to you, but it IS against their policy.

On another subject, is it possible to do one of these PM deals and order 2 at once? and then say maybe add a 50 off 200 coupon?

And is the current 20 off 100 that is floating around reuseable?

Just curious...

Can anyone give me the run down on PM-ing? Details would be appreciated (i.e. what to say to CSR and what is their number anyways)

I wonder, is it possible for it to work if I just send an e-mail to Staples requesting a price match instead of calling them?

And then PM later? Won't I just get an email telling me they dont have stock? I think I've seen that happen to others before. Im on hold with my local Staples right now and they have it, I called the 1800 number before. Would it be possible to use a coupon code in the store? or do I have to have the physical coupon?

Thanks!

Well, I tried to get the deal at my local staples and the clerk basically said that they don't do the pricematching with rebates (because BB's deal requires MIR). As for the Coupon here is a link for $30 off $150 purchase @ Staples. . This coupon is printable to be used in-store and also you can use the coupon code for online shopping. One thing worth noting is that I tried to do the PM on the Hard drive compared to BB and use the coupon, but the guy simply said they are allowed to do it, but they most likely won't because they will get in trouble for it. So supposedly, you're not supposed to be allowed to use this coupon with that bargain. Anyway, the guy @ Staples told me that the MIR from BB is a manufacturer's rebate (Mfr) so supposedly you can use the coupon @ Staples for 149.98- $30 off 150 coupon = $109.98 then have the Mfr to - another $20 or $30 (I forget) to come out to around $79.98 to $89.98 (tax not included). I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure if it was truely a Mfr rebate even though the clerk said he was pretty sure (even after the fact that he couldn't find it at his Staple's website). Good luck. :brokenheart:

Hmm.. those rebates look pretty BB specific to me, they have BB logos all over them.. In fact when you go to Maxtor.com all their rebates seem to be retailer specific.

The rebates at Best Buy are for Best Buy only. You can even confirm this by going to Maxtor's web site. They have a section in there that shows what rebates are available. The only ones that are "live" are the Best Buy ones which state that the drive must be purchased at a Best Buy store.

What the jdslkjflsdjflsjfoiewj. I just called up the 1800 number, asked for a price match on my order, and the CSR said that if I wanted to price match something, I would have to give up the $30 coupon if the price drops below $150. So much for the wait 20+ minutes and the CSR not seeing the online order's coupon. I actually waited more than an hour to call and try to do a price match. I'll try this one more time before cancelling off this order. Sigh.

If the $30 off $150 isn't working, then just use the $20 off $100 and it should be totally fine.

Guys...in-store this is not going to work. You gotta:

A) Call the CSR and PM BB's AR price *and* use the $20 off $100 coupon all in one call.

B) Order online with $30 off $150 at Staples, wait 20 min, then call Staples CSR to PM to Best Buy, this is apparently YMMV (your mileage may vary) now. They have wised up since the Maxtor 160GB 8MB deal I guess.

CSR is customer service rep, meaning just call the 1-800# listed on Staples.com to place an order.

Yeah, I'm starting to get the feeling that they're getting smarter. I'm about to do the $20 off $100 instead if this $30 off $150 isn't going to float.

Is there any other place that will price match with BB?
I don't have a staples in my area and they won't deliver it to me.

Staples deal for $92 (after tax) still good as of 6pm Pacific. I called Staples, did whole order over the phone, CSR asked if I wanted to pricematch BB before I even mentioned it! Used $20 off $100 coupon. No rebate hassles....no hassles at all.

Well, I got one ordered for $102.61 => $0.85/GB, not too bad.

I ordered over the phone and the rep said that she could price match it to $114.79. The higher price was due to the difference in shipping costs. I told her that shipping was free on BestBuy.com but she said my order will be delivered on tuesday. I told her that I never get stuff that quickly from staples, but she didn't budge on the price, so I said ok.

At this point I gave her the $20 coupon code. I could hear her sigh. After she finished the order she gave me the order number and said that it should be delivered on Friday. I asked her what happened to Tuesday.......?

Not the best price but still very good.
sk3tch, thanks for the good post!

hahahah, lol, what did she answer you for the last question?? i can hold it, so amusing of her.
i guess the Staples headquarter doesnt pay for the coupons they gave out. so, their franchise stores dont like people using the coupons at all because they have to pay for the loss

The original title post doesn't mention Staples or PM or anything else. I still think it is simple common courtesy to put in two letters, such as PM or AR. How hard is that?

I agree 100% with u!!!!

I was on my way to OfficeMax to pick some FAR items so I thought I might as well give this deal a try in-store 😛. I suppose I could get this deal to work following your steps, but since I am really in no hurry for an extra Hdd I will hold out for the next deal. After all, prices on these things go down over time not up! For those of you who got it for <$85 😀.
