Squisher, that would be freaking awesome, man. What a place that would have been to work out and throw iron around.

I suppose that since the poll asks max ever as opposed to max now, it would still allow for people who've worked out in the past and don't so much/at all now, so that could explain the tendency towards the 200+.

One thing I've found is that everybody used to be stronger and buffer than you (well, stronger and buffer than me, anyway). Random people in grocery stores, shopping malls, lines in front of movie theaters, etc., will just start telling you in great detail about how they used to bench 300 "easy," used to be bigger than I am, used to be all these great things, but they've since outgrown that phase and moved on to other interests.
I guess it's a good thing that I don't worry too much about comparing myself to others since I know I'd never measure up to what everybody else used to be.
...
The most amazing feat of bench pressing that I've ever witnessed was one time at the gym when this guy asks me to spot him...and as I'm helping him load up the bar, I asked him repeatedly if he really could handle this. The guy looked like Tim Conway, except a little more padded around the middle: short, skinny arms, small chest, kind of an inverted lightbulb body shape. He worked up to 465 pounds, and I never had to do much more than touch the bar at the heaviest weight. He was only doing one or two reps with each weight, but, still, 465 is a lot even for someone who doesn't look like he's getting ready to film "Dorf on Weights."

That's pretty darn good. I got 25 pounds of bodyweight on you and I can only do about 5 reps with 315 confortably.
