Maximum bench press, you have attempted

I don't do max lifts. In fact, if I can't do 6 reps, I will take off weight.

The most I have lifted is 290 5 times a month ago. One of my many failed attempts at pushing gains.

Of course, I'm sure I'm quite a bit weaker now as I haven't been in the gym in nearly a month due to a nasty case of the shingles. 🙁

BTW, I prefer doing presses with dumbells. With those I do 120lbs each 8-10 times on the flat, and 100lbs on the incline.
 
70lbs. That was freshman year of highscool, where everyone had to take P.E. Gawd, that was horrible.

Never picked up one since.
 
Weight - 205
Max bench - 1 x 315

I usually stay around 275lbs. My definate limiting factor is my triceps, I need to work on those more in order to bring up my bench.
 
I got 255 when I was still working out for football. Right now I could do maybe 120-135 😛
 
LOL at the numbers. We've already covered the average age of people here, and considering that the average male adult cannot bench 200lbs+ I highly doubt that 63% of ATers, a disproportionate number of whom are geeky and tend away from weightlifting, have successfully benched 200lbs + with a barbell (machine bench press is meaningless) and good form.

That may be true for the most part, but some of us actually have, and still do, work out on a consistent basis. I have been lifting for about 5 years now. My body weight was at 155lbs when I went into the AF in 97', when I got out I was 224lbs. As for form... I like to think that I use good form (with exception of every now and then to get that extra rep) when I lift. But you are right, this kind of question does lead to mass exaggeration. It reminds me of the "teen" section over at bodybuilding.com.

There are some here who work out - or used to before getting the shingles :evil:...I suppose that since the poll asks max ever as opposed to max now, it would still allow for people who've worked out in the past and don't so much/at all now, so that could explain the tendency towards the 200+.

I agree with notfred though that his poll is pretty badly skewed on the left!
 
I've successfully done 95kg @ 77kg. I'll hopefully hit 110kg by the end of the year @ 80-85kg as I'm bulking.

I'm moving up a weight class from 77kg to 85kg.

No bounce and a strict BP, none of this bounce it off your chest BS.

Glad to see some people training here but yeah most people in a gym can't lift ah heck all.

well the poll is pretty crappily layed out. add that to the fact that everyone who works out will sprint over to this poll to click on the 200+ option (I know I did😉 ) and those people who never work out will just skip this thread.....you've got yourself one lopsided poll that does not at all describe the average strength of the ATOT crowd.
 
315 for 5 is easily attainable for me, providing I don't take longer than a month off from the gym. I'm going to guess that 365 would be close to my max.
