Surprised there was no "bullet time" in the trailer.

I thought the final clip of Wahlberg(?) diving backwards with the shotgun was kind of a 'bullet time' shot.

Michael T. Weiss would have been a better Max Payne. Mainly cause they look so similar!

I was thinking that if Clive Owen could handle the voice he would do very well in this role.

Too tall. A young Dave Carruso would have been perfect.

Please dear God let them do this movie right. I remember from the very first time I played Max Payne many years ago thinking "Wow! This would make a great movie!" I'm so glad Ewww Boll didn't get ahold of this one. The story line has great potential. But only if its told well.

The game was so damn repetitive and overhyped, the bullet time was ok they firs 5 minutes then it's a damn gimmick.

Agreed. I'm a big Clive Owen fan, so I'd be happy with him in this role. I think Wahlberg should be able to pull it off though.

Definitely agree on Mark, very up and down, though I thought he was great in Boogie Nights, The Italian Job, and The Departed. I can;t think of any other standouts.

Shooter was pretty good, but it's not for everyone.

yea i liked shooter and thought he was good in it as well

Hmm, never heard of it. Looks interesting though, so I'll check it out.

KT

So, what have you heard of...

Lol I forgot how constipated he looked.

The guy in the 2nd pic, Weiss or whoever, looks a little too flamboyant in the pics I've looked up for him to be believable. Maybe he's a good actor though, I dunno. I don't recognize him.

He's from Pretender :D A series I watched almost religiously back in the day lol

Max Payne had some great music in it... I hope they include some of it as the background music in the movie.

Is it out in Blu Ray? I borrowed the DVD from a friend but never got around to watching it before returning it.

It was, but that was when Paramount switched to HD-DVD and they pulled all Blu-Rays of Shooter. It was then released again... kind of amusing :p. Good movie, although it kind of felt like a second-rate Bourne.

Maybe I shouldn't admit it, but I actually enjoy both the Wahlbergs as actors.

Donnie Wahlberg is an actor? Huh.

Mark Wahlberg has been up and down. He seems to do better in movies where he is part of an ensemble cast.

I thought Donnie was good in Ransom, but that's the only role of his I can recall (aside from that brief appearance in The Sixth Sense).

Definitely agree on Mark, very up and down, though I thought he was great in Boogie Nights, The Italian Job, and The Departed. I can;t think of any other standouts.

As for the trailer, it actually does look kind of cool, but we'll see what the public and the reviews say.

KT

Have you seen Four Brothers? Very believable in that role, very good IMO.

No, it didn't look very appealing to me. Worth a watch?

KT

Yeah I'd recommend it. I thought it looked forgettable and actually never even consciously decided not to see it, but it happened to be on TV at my in-laws so we watched it, and it was actually pretty good.

edit: Queasy makes a good point, I"m not 100% sure how well he'll do in a more isolated role like this one. But I think he could pull it off. If if he can, I think he'll be better than just about anyone else who would've done it.

He was good in Rock Star and other than Jennifer Aniston, he was the focal point.

Anyone know the music from the trailer?

Probably a temp track not even done by the movie's composer. Doesn't sound familiar.

It's a Marilyn Manson song called If I Was Your Vampire.

I really hope Mark Wahlberg pulls off the dialogue. One of the strongest points in the max payne series was the incredible incredible dialogue direction. It's still one of the best voice-acted games i've ever seen ever. I hope they also do some of those coool stylistic cutscene stuff they had in the game.

What were you on? The first one was cheesy as hell, and poorly done. The second one was well done, but still cheesy. I enjoyed the cut scenes, and hiding around corners listening to bad guy dialogue, but also enjoyed throwing on the Cinema mod and going to town with extra gore and a mini gun.
