Max $400, Debating 2k 25" IPS, 2k 32" WVA, 34" UWide IPS

I am looking for suggestions & advice.

My 28" Hanns G finally "died." It must of had bad capacitors as when it would shut off it never wanted to go back on. I love the size but the colors and viewing angle were horrible. But it was 1920x1200 instead of 1080 which was good for working with documents.

I am not sure what to get. I have looked at 2 of the IPS models below but not the HP 32" MVA which is tempting. I love the IPS screens on my 10" HP Omni and Moto G4 Plus. No way will I go back to a TN but debating the MVA.

Primary Uses:

* Multitasking Research / Word Doc Composition
* A movie once or twice a week (we have no TV)
* Local OTO Football games (USB TV tuner)
* Haven't played games in a couple years but could see trying Forza on the PC

I am definitely open to suggestions as there are so many monitors on the market & deals, but below are what I am looking at today.

I have looked at in person the HP 27" 1080p FHD display and the LG 34" Ultra Wide 1080p. I like the color and viewing angles on both.

The 34" UltraWide would be great for me--EXCEPT at 1080p I am concerned the vertical resolution isn't sufficient for an entire Word doc or PDF to be viewed. I cannot on my 1280x1024 display and I know it was tight on the Hanns G 1920x1080.

The HP 27" looks nice and is a good price. But if I have it for another 5-10 years I don't think the resolution is what I want.

I have not seen the Acer 25" QHD but it seems good. Just not sure about going down 3 inches.

I would like to be convinced the WVA panel on the HP 32" QHD won't bother me. I have read contrast at angles is the issue? Don't think I have seen a WVA panel before but it had solid reviews. 32" won't be too large for my desk arrangement. Getting the large screen + resolution seems perfect for what I want. And while at the higher end of what I want to pay a 32" QHD with a QUALITY panel sounds great. If it was IPs I would have already ordered it!

I would go with either the HP 32" or the LG 34" since you sound like you are doing work with your system.

I have two 25" 1440p panels and they're great. If you have trouble with high PPI it might be a bit too much for you, but most people only have issues past 120 PPI, these are 117 PPI.

Thanks for the feedback. Debating between the HP "32 QHD and the LG 34" Ultrawide.

Leaning toward the HP but concerned about the AMVA+ display. Sounds solid though although no local stores have it to check it out.

I would also recommend going with the HP 32" QHD or LG 34" Ultrawide.

If you don't mind the missing vertical resolution go with the LG 34"...but be absolutely sure you won't miss that resolution.

Given that you used a 1900x1200 my guess is it will be harder to go back to 1080p than to get the HP with the WVA panel unless the panel quality is really really crappy.

See if you can visit Bestbuy, Walmart, Staples, Office Depot/Office Max, Fry's, etc and find a monitor with a WVA panel to see if you can live with it or better yet, enjoy it.

If you aren't a gamer now, you won't start gaming because you get a new monitor so forget about that consideration.
