Well all, I've lost 20 pounds so far since early November, and here's my guide if you all want to start doing what I've done.

1) Get inspired. This can be with a gym partner, etc. Most of the time, the gym partner will fail, but they may go with you a few times, before they find something better to do.

2) Get a gym membership NOW, even if you plan on not using it for a while. Since you'll never actually go to the gym when you first start off, its better to pay a few months now without going. This will make you realize the money you're wasting, and eventually you'll actually start going. I find "You were on vacation" works well when people ask why you haven't utilized the facilities.

3) Try on one of your old pairs of pants. This'll be a kicker.

4) Have something catastrophic happen, like fail a class, etc. This will make you sad and inspire you to get those endorphins running!

5) Show off. This really helps.

6) Meet a new girl. Find out she doesn't like chubby guys. Do it for her!!! :)

7) Adjust your scale so that it makes you lighter than you really are. Those magic pounds have just come off, and you'll want to keep (or start) going to the gym to make more come off! Be sure to adjust your scale once you actually are going to the gym regularly...

That's my guide.

1a.) If you want to eat more, get off your lazy ass.

But I think you covered it well enough.

That sounds like a quality plan, Matt! Keep it up and get into shape!

Deftron, you're as funny as chemo. Don't try to hijack the thread with your pitiful humor.

You forgot:

2. Get off your ass and exercise more.

Just cutting back on how much you eat isn't enough, trust me.

Yup. And it's not necessarily how much you eat, but what you eat.

I actually lost 5lbs in the past 2 days whilst sitting on my ass and eating. Not sure how or why, but I hope it keeps working... :D

Here's my recommendation: Ride a bike. Ride long, ride regularly and ride hard. The pounds will melt away and you'll feel younger than you have in years.

I'm lucky I guess. I can lose 10 lbs in a week if I wanted to. Yeah, it's probably not healthy, but it can be done.

QFT. Biking uses incredible amounts of calories. Upwards of 700 per hour if you bike vigorously. And you can do it for a much longer amount of time than running.
