Matrox Fans...There May Still be Hope!

I tend to put a lot of faith Johan, so in this I'm inldined to believe that he may well have some information we're unaware of. Let's hope he's right about the G800 debuteing before the end of the year.

I'm one of those that would be extremely interested in a card that can pull out Matrox calibar 2D with decent 3D performance to back it up.
I hope it at least comes out before nVidia and ATi near release date for the DX9 based R300/NV30 cores.

My sources told me its a very expensive card ($500) so its a not a consumer card.
Right now Matrox is in a dangerous situation (nothing competive in market that usually means you are going out of business in time)

Hey, if people pay $400+ for a vid card, they will pay $500. It might be made for professional quality 3d graphics, in which case they will not be catering to the gaming community anyway.

You won't be seeing Matrox going out of business anytime soon. They haven't been competing in the gaming market cause they don't have to. They have been happy supplying their 2d solutions to businesses and other people who like their dual or multi-monitor support. They haven't had the need to create anything better cause they were supplying a product that didn't need improvement in their eyes. Don't fix it if it's not broke. I'm sure because of this they saved alot of money in R&D and now are ready to kick out a killer 3d card(I hope) for the gaming market.

But again, I won't believe anything til I see it 😀

It will be higher.... 😉

BTW- Why the HELL do people believe it now? I posted this info from MatroxUsers weeks ago and everybody diss'd it. Now the Ace has his say, everyone is geeked about it and he's using the same source!

Yea I know Electric Amish. I noticed his news thing a month ago and nobody mentioned it until now. This is very interesting, and I'll be keeping my eye on it!

Perhaps cause Ace's is a very reputable site, while rumors on a Matrox fan board/site might be somewhat biased so to speak.

If that's what you think, then you're wrong. 🙂

IMHO you're all holding your breathe for no reason. It'll end up being just like the G200, hype hype hype then complete and utter disappointment. Sad drivers and lack of response from Matrox like a horrible Deja Vu.

Well I have no choice.

The GF3 I have now is nice, but the 2D isn't good enough, and my last trip with ATi left me with a sour taste.
Might try them again at some point, but I'd prefer Matrox over ATi any day.

Nope. Not this time. 🙂

Seems like 120v Amish is left with glib remarks.
Okay, okay, I am excited too.
But by then it'll be Hammer and GeForce 5 (or I have read it will be a different name)

😀 😀

<< My bet, NV30 and R300 slug it out while the G800 is still waiting to be taped out... >>

There are already beta boards used for the symposium at GDC.
