masturbation and health

I know what you're thinking, I'm a dirty little kid. But I'm actually here to talk about the health aspect of it. I heard from various places that masturbation can prevent prostate cancer and help men lose weight, not to mention it relieves stress. Of course this only applies to those that either single and doesn't have a friend with benefits, or those that are in a relationship but wants more than what your SO is giving you.

So what do you think? Is it harmful to your health or is it good for you?

Oh, and according to webmd (which I think is a trusted source). 94% of men masturbate (the other 6% are liars, in my opinion). And 89% of women do it as well.

As long as it doesn't take over one part of your life (such as interfering with real dating or going out with friends), masturbation is a healthy, normal activity.

Yes it is physiologically healthy, in moderation. If you don't do it enough, your body will simply expel sperm while you sleep (wet dreams), so you might as well do it yourself and have fun 😉.

On the extreme end, I read somewhere about a Japanese porn star who developed health problems (erectile, I think) because he ejaculated an average of 70 times per month :Q.

So, masturbate when you get the urge, but as BeauJangles said, don't neglect other aspects of your life to do so.

Seems to keep me in good shape. It's been my only form of exercise for the past 10 months, and two girls this month have commented on my body being nice after taking my shirt off.

Lol, not to sound like a jerk or anything, but girls say that about any skinny guy with some sort of abs. Think about your overall health when you think about exercising - not just the aesthetics.

The stress relief is quite worth it. Consider some of the things people do when stressed, particularly overeat the unhealthiest foods. If, by masturbating, you can avoid taking in those calories, it's worth it. Consider that all kinds of happy chemicals are released in your brain when you masturbate, even more reason to skip the chocolate cake and go have some quality time.

Aesthetics are strong indicators of overall health - the reason things that look good look good (to the opposite sex) is because they are good. Yes, this means competition bodybuilders do not look good to the opposite sex, but anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional to begin with.

It does, but only to a certain extent. Skinny guys with low body fat aren't necessarily healthy at all. Abs don't mean anything about your health except that your body fat is low and you aren't at a certain risk because of that. Color, coordination, symmetry, etc are much better indicators of such.

Color and symmetry also influence how hot they think we are, right? I agree that abs alone != goodness.

Well, they're better indicators of health, but are disregarded a bit sometimes. But yeah, you know what I mean.
