News Massive "Dragon Man" skull found in China might be a new human evolutionary branch

A gigantic fossilized skull that was hidden in a well in China for 90 years has just been discovered by scientists — and it's making them rethink human evolution.

They are labeling it as distinct separation in the "homo" species lineage.
Named after the region it was found in, translated to English The Black Dragon River.
It is quite a bit larger than modern human skulls but still has primitive features. The cranial capacity, or brain size would equal to modern human skull capacities.

Found it to be quite interesting article and am going to read into the links inside the article for further information.

PS. Let me know if formatting needs any corrections. Especially for dark themed users. Some of the copy paste did not have plain text option.

EDIT: my apologies for throwing the missing link phrase in there. Removing due to no supporting terminology in the article or 3 additional links inside article.

Back when we more resembled apes, eh?
Fascinating place to find it. Indicates that our proto-species were widespread, and certainly not confined to Africa - even if the modern human branch originated there.

Personally I don’t understand why some folks cite God doesn’t allow evolution to me the two can easily exist in tandem.

I read about this find Sunday(?) seems really cool to me.
I think an @zinfamous extinction of how this could be a different branch or a completely unrelated branch of Humanity would be helpful.

Trogdor was a man, I mean, he was a dragon man...

But pretty neat, between this and the "hobbit" remains that have also been found in the relatively recent past.

Because they stupidly believe that the Bible has to be taken literally. Well, parts of it do, sometimes. But not all the time. And there's no possibility translation errors crept in when it went from language to language to language, and all editing was also by the will of God.
This, of course, explains why there is only to this day one unified Christian belief system. Because the word of God is infallible, and the Bible is the inerrant word of God.
DUH!

I get all the jokes, ect, but isn't it the least bit interesting that they may have found a 3rd species of human?

There are a shit ton of jokes and wisecracks to be off this and my first post. I mean politics wise, it is questionable. But scientifically and archeologically, it is very interesting. Hence the news tag.

Does throw a big sack of shit into the whole Intelligent Design ideology IMO.

IIRC article dated it to around 125,000 years ago.

In my enlightened Methodist upbringing, it was compatible as it was still part of God's plan. And yet, I am still not convinced about the God part.

The Bible says the whole human race are the offspring of two original people. Doesn't sound compatible with evolution to me. Now if you want to look at it as metaphor, fine, but then the Bible just means whatever you want it to mean.

Old Testament which to my admittedly novice knowledge nobody follows the Old Testament exclusively.

And basically the Bible means whatever you want it to anyway. Each specific sect/denomination is pretty much "no, not like that"
Like I'm Lutheran and drink and swear and pretty much carry on, while nominally baptists are our closest denominational relative.

But not southern baptists. Cause fuck all that noise.
