Link

The place I worked for last summer bought a company in Goshen, I hope it's not the company where this is happening...

damn they havent caught him yet .....

what do these poeple think?? do they have any regard for other people or human life??

I'm watching the channels here in Indianapolis, and no updates yet. I'll let you all know as soon as I see anything.

From the CNN link

Goshen is a town of about 29,000 people 100 miles west of Chicago

Some-one flunked geography badly.

One side of the ocean: Israel and Palestinia.
Other side: the US.

The first being unable to stop the violence between the citizens of both countries, the latter unable to cope with violence in the form of mass-shootings by its own citizens.

Luckily most Americans don't have much with suicide bombing unlike certain people in the Middle-East.

And yes, I'm more than just mildly sarcastic.

this could have happened in any country. I seem to recall a high school student The Netherlands a while back. He had a banned handgun, if my memory serves me.

This was far from a mass-shooting. It was one student who tried to shoot another student because that guy had 'stolen' (in his eyes) his girlfriend.
However, these students were either from Turkey or Morocco, and in the there dominant culture, it's quite normal to revenge an act of 'betrayal'.

One disgruntled boy being angry because his g/f had left him. I don't know about the fire-arm he used, but fire-arms are absolutely not banned in this country.

I recall no such event.

Only in Germany such a thing happened some time ago, although I can't recall any details.

yep, as a matter of fact, it was Dec. 8 1999. A student in the Netherlands shot 5, 4 students and a teacher.

VEGHEL, Netherlands (CNN Europe) -- A 17-year-old student shot and wounded three classmates and a teacher Tuesday in the Dutch town of Veghel, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Amsterdam, Dutch television reported.

The shooting suspect was in police custody, while the four victims were transported to hospitals. Their conditions were unknown, but Teo van Bruggen of Dutch National Radio told CNN that at least one of the victims was said to have life-threatening injuries.

The shooting took place in a hallway outside De Leijgraaf school's computer room at about 2 p.m. (noon GMT), officials said. Students were sent home for the day after the incident.

Pupils in the school said that a quarrel between a boy and a girl sparked the shooting.

"It's a bit of a mess because there's blood on the floor, and some windows are broken," said van Bruggen from the scene.

Such shootings are extremely rare in the Netherlands, where gun control is strict and weapons are available only on the black market.

That was the incident I referred to. I actually didn't recall that there were any other victims until I read this article.

But the last sentence of the article is correct that such events are extremely rare, yet is wrong in saying that weapons are available only on the black market.

[edit}: corrected comment.

While their comments, AntNYC, would have been there before 9/11, I don't think the world is any worse of a place to live, but just more publicized.
