That's what happens when you do dumb shit I guess.

Like painting your face and wearing second-hand gay hunting gear?

It was part of their marketing gimmick. They all act like fools, paint up, wear costumes, etc. to promote their product to wild MMA fans worldwide. It's not for everyone, including myself. But they did over $100 million in sales in 2008. That is quite impressive. Looks like they're doing something right.

Or something terribly wrong. Making money doesn't mean you are doing something right.

but it does mean he was running his business right. like him or hate him. he ran a succesfull company.

The likelihood this guy had anything to do with making this company succesful, besides marketing it, is very small.

"besides marketing it" Marketing is the single most important aspect of making a company successful. You can have a horrible product but if you market it right could still be a huge success. And you can have the best product ever, but if it's not marketed right it could be a huge flop.

this guy was a huge part of Tapout from the jump, and Tapout is huge so...

Quote from Dana White.

1st I've seen of him commenting on it.

"It still, right now, hasn't hit me yet," White told The Canadian Press. "It's still surreal, and doesn't seem real.

"But I'm going to tell you right now, you couldn't meet a nicer guy, a more friendly, outgoing guy, a more loyal guy. He really was a good person. He's one of the pioneers, one of the legends of this sport.

"This guy was selling T-shirts out of the trunk of his car and when we first got involved with the UFC, we met them. We really liked them, we liked their energy. They were good people and we got together and we started doing all this grassroots marketing together - the UFC and Tapout. They were very loyal to us and we were very loyal to them.

"And it sucks to see a guy who has worked so hard his whole life, to finally make it and break through, and then have something like this happen to him." "

This is basically the key point of contention between you and the board. You are more sympathetic to a stupid costly mistake whereas the others feel that not only was it stupid and costly, but that he was reckless in endangering other people's lives.

The stretch of road he was driving on, Jamboree Rd. and University Dr. is a huge road that has a good amount of people traveling on it at all hours as it connects the 405 freeway and the 5 freeway. He could have very likely killed someone else in the process because of his recklessness. A family friend was killed on Jamboree Rd. just down the street of where this happened a year back because someone decided they wanted to race while intoxicated through red lights. Killed a doctor and his wife.

Can you see why people are not sympathetic?

A couple problems here, one...speed of the cars has not been confirmed, two...Lewis has not been confirmed as the driver yet. There is too much speculation here and too much applied science/forensics by those that have no fucking clue. They are simply lashing out at a guy they probably wish they could be or resent for being what he was.

I can understand why people aren't sympathetic.... most likely because they haven't experienced a loss in the same fashion as Charles' family/friends. Empathetic would be more appropriate here.

Yes, he was a moron for his actions. Forgive and move on. You can't hold a grudge forever. He didn't kill anyone, although he did endanger the lives of others.

And I'm sure there are plenty of individuals on this board who have endangered lives themselves... whether purposely or non-intentional. I know I have myself.

But the board reaction here is very similar to what went on when Benoit murdered his family. Not even close to the same situation.

Right. A lot of the comments could have been held off until more info is released regarding the accident. I still have a gut feeling that Charles was the driver - it was his vehicle. And I'm sure there is more involved....

I think they may be holding off on what ACTUALLY happened for right now so that family and friends can grieve.... and then they will proceed with more facts.

Darwin wins another round.

Aside from this being tasteless as hell, he had a daughter so you double fail here...

BudAshes is happy darwin loses sometimes else his conception would have been a non-event.

I can agree to an extent, but it's not unusual for a guy to let his chick drive and then have some asshat pull a race. Bottom line is the other driver crashed into them which sent them into the pole. Outside of that I doubt there would have been deaths.

I know back in the late 80's/early 90's in dallas when a race was lost it wasn't uncommon for the loser to chase down the winner and run them off the road violently.
