whoah.. universal paid for namor? and only namor? why?
and lionsgate got Man-thing? why x 2???

Namor is rumored to be the villian in Black Panther 2, it was a wise investment.

I cannot fathom what they were thinking with Man-Thing though.

universal got the rights back in 2001, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay b4 black panther or any other marvel movie except spider man.

again, why just namor?
back then, anything not licensed by sony should still be up for grabs?

Just one more reason to hate Sony.

Not surprised at all.

Meh...I don't hate Sony...for any reason.
I certainly don't blame them for buying the rights to Spiderman when it was available. I'm really surprised Marvel licensed Spiderman to Sony without a reasonable time limit though...that was pretty short-sighted.

This is more recent 12/17/2018 than the one I previously posted. Disney (evil empire) acquired 21st Century Fox ($71.3B) - March 2019.
With that happening, perhaps a X-Men, Fantastic Four and Avengers movie in the same cinematic universe?
Waiting for an update from the author, as soon as Sony/Marvel/etc. clears up who owns who.

I wonder if Magneto is going to get his kids back now that Disney owns fox..

Never played Star Wars Galaxies I take it?

To be fair I really like my Sony headphones.

rumor:
Disney to pay Sony's asking price of $10B for Spiderman rights

I think, while a tad too high in terms of proper asking prices, Disney should still go for it. They'll get that back and more, and help keep shared-universe concepts going which is harder to quantify in terms of value but still incredibly lucrative. Spiderman will sell well in other areas, like toys and games, even if only included as a character in team-up/crossover movies like Avengers and future Marvel series. But now give Marvel the full control over all future direction, including bringing together proper Spiderman stories with characters they already own? Sony knows Disney will make bank with the full rights and they want their cut.

Only 1/7th what they paid for X-men. :p

(and, yes, the rest of Fox)

Next up, Disney buying Sony Pictures, at a massively devalued level? Sony doesn't exactly have much in the way of hot exclusives that I recall. That said, I could see Sony fighting hard to keep their various outfits under the Sony Pictures banner, and I say that because Sony does very well integrating their different properties across their overall brand line. And that includes the gaming world with their PlayStation hardware and the licensing royalties that come with games and accessories. Spider-Man has been a banner character for Sony since the PS2/PS3 era and it, along with other tactics, helped Sony better integrate their diverse properties. I hear they've been struggling a bit as an overall brand in recent years, so if the rumor is true that there is a major offer in the works for Spider-Man and perhaps the other relevant properties, and that could be a major infusion that helps Sony execute a bit of a dynamic shift.

Never say never but I highly doubt this is true. 10B for Spidey is overvalued, more so when you factor in the rights go back to Marvel upon Sony not making any Spider-Man movies for X years, or if Sony ends up selling/merging it's picture side. That's more likely to happen than Marvel paying 10B for it. They did fine without him for years, and would be able to do so again.
