I always crack up when I look at the thread title and I see Martin Bashir's name in quotation marks. It's like some people think that Arabs only use their "names" as a cover up? Either that, or OP just discovered television and up until now had no clue who Martin Bashir was. :D

She is a complete fucking idiot.

How anyone stays awake during a Sarah Palin speech is beyond me.
She actually gives excellent speeches. It's virtually the only thing she does well on the national level. I'm also impressed by the fact that at the Republican convention, she gave virtually her entire speech from memory because the person running the TelePrompter did not pause for the very long periods of applause, which made her speech rapidly scroll off. I think that contrasts quite nicely with the smartest President ever, who literally thanked himself for inviting himself to the White House to meet himself because that's what the TelePrompter told him to say.

Anyone can study and prepare for a speech. It's how she answers direct questions that alarms me. You know, questions like what she reads, what she thinks, tough questions like that. You can almost hear Curly's voice echoing in that empty head, "I'm tryin' to think but nothin' happens."

Agreed. She did some great things in Alaska and was one of the young politicians I watched, but a couple weeks of campaigning made it clear that she was nowhere near ready for the national stage. And in the end, she decided to use her popularity to be a political player rather than make herself ready, so while she'll be a force for years to come she'll never be a serious politician. Makes me wonder who was behind her in Alaska. After seeing her performance in the national election, I find it difficult to believe that she was the driving force behind breaking the Stevens-Murkowsky corruption ring's stranglehold on Alaska, or defeating the oil companies' graft machine.

I'll admit that I had no clue who Martin Bashir was until this came up.

So has Sarah Palin yet apologized for her stupid and insensitive comments that Bashir was responding to when he went over the line? She should at least apologize to the American public. Then again if she apologized to America for every stupid thing she said or did we'd hear from her almost every day.

Ah, so it's not his fault. She made him do it. I don't remember Bashir as wearing wife-beater's but maybe he should have.

Um, wow, you are even dumber than I realized. I never defended what he said. I even said he went over the line. I simply used his comment for the reference point of the insensitive thing Palin said. Bashir apologized and resigned for his remark, Palin doubled down on her shitty remark. Guess it's just more proof of how horrible of people the Tea Party favorites and those who support them are in comparison to even the bad eggs from the left.

When I read the title and text I expected for Bashir to have said "and we should all...or I would like to...Sh*t...on sarah's head."

But in viewing the clip, he didn't say that anywhere that I could find. He drew a stark and literal illustration of what slavery was like for those who lived it. He used the direct words of a historical slave owner and he presented the audience with a does of historical reality. People who like to throw around terms like Nazi, Slave, dictatorship etc to make off the cuff political points, but they should keep some perspective on what they mean in the context of history. I got his point...he made it well...and he never said anything about anyone defecating in anyone's mouth in the modern context. He should not have apologized and probably only did so to get more views.

Of course it's her fault for inciting Bashir...and she should damn well apologize for her insensitive comments...you're just too stupid to see it. Welcome to progressive "intellectualism" in it's full glory.

You know what, I realized I hadn't watched the actual clip and had mostly gone by second hand accounts. I finally watched the clip. What Palin said was significantly worse than what Bashir said. They're not even close. Anyone who isn't attacking Palin for this but is attacking Bashir needs to have their head examined.

Not shocking that you'd double down on boomerang's stupid statement. Hell after recent posts from you I'm sure you're fine with Palin's moderation of slavery since you have no problems mocking it.

The concept of debt slavery appears to elude you. I'm surprised that such a highly intelligent person as yourself struggles with understanding such a pedestrian concept.

Here's a few articles to help stoke your "moderation of slavery" outrage...enjoy.

Only a pathetic excuse for a human being like you would say this. What Bashir said was much worse and it doesn't surprise me at all you won't condemn him.

You are right, we are not slaves to the debt. We only pay over $200 Billion a year just in interest. Divided amongst all Americans it's only $54,000 each, and considering there are only 150 Million working stiffs in the US that is only $114,000 out of your paycheck. No, we aren't slaves to that.

I'm just curious, what freedoms have you lost or what have you suffered from as a result of our historically normal debt as a percent of GDP?

Man, if our next President is a Republican that'd be like the Holocaust. Yeah, that'd be exactly like 6 million Jews being tortured and murdered...

Now do you see how fucking horrible what Palin said was and how fucking stupid those of you defending it sound? Probably not, if you had the capability to learn you would never defend Palin to begin with.

Pathetic excuse for a human being from Incorruptible is like the best compliment I can imagine. If someone with as skewed of a perspective as you dislikes me I certainly must be doing things right then.

And I guess if what Palin said was ok then all Bashir was saying is that Palin deserves to know what it feels like to be in debt. Since apparently that's all slavery is.

I'll give that spin a solid five. Progressives like yourself are both sensitive and outraged towards anything a non-progressive says. In my eyes you're just a misogynist.

Hey and I'm starting to think differently about Obama. I'm starting to think of him more as an articulate, light-skinned, bright and clean black guy with no negro dialect.

You have never had a paycheck? If you have, look at the deductions. About 10% of that goes just for interest.
