Have any of you practiced or still practice martial arts? I've recently picked up Aikido and it's a great learning experience. 😀

I did Wing Chun for my 1st yellow sash. I had some fun but had to cut down as I got more serious in to weightlifting.

haha..how was training in Wing Chun? I was interested in the short range fighting techniques it has to offer.

It was cool. I really enjoyed learning it.

It all depends on what you want out of your martial arts. Full practicality? I'd pick bjj/ judo or boxing.

I've studied each of the following for anywhere between 1 year to 3 years:

1. karate with some aikido and jiu-jitsu influences
2. a heavily kung-fu influenced karate
3. tae kwon do

Did Krav Maga for a little while, then moved away. Place recently opened up about 40 minutes away, probably going to pick it up again. Best workout I've ever had and an exclusive focus on practical fighting, even included some weapon-disarmament training. Learning to yank a paintball gun out of your practice partner's hand before he can get a (accurate) shot off is pretty satisfying, not that anything's 100%. 😛

I took taekwondo for a little bit. I loved it and it was a great workout but had to quit due to the cost.

I did Muy Thai for about 8 months at an MMA gym (so the punching was more boxing-influenced as opposed to pure Muy Thai), but had to quit when my daughter was born--my schedule now just doesn't have room for it. I loved it, and it's amazing how much you can learn in a short amount of time. But I'm dying to get back to it. I'd like to take BJJ or Judo as well, or Krav Maga.
