At times, marriage can be a lot of work, you know you're in a good marriage though when you look at your partner and realise they''re worth every bit of your effort plus some.

I feel that way about my husband, he's the best in my book :)

awwww, how sweet

I went from never wanting a serious relationship (longest was 2 weeks) to being with my current gf for 7 months. Who knows, one day I may even get married, even though right now I certainly dont want to.

After 27 years I'd say it's a piece of cake with the right person. People really don't change (personalities), short of a stroke or brain tumor, so the person you're dating will still be the same two decades from now. If there are issues now, it ain't gonna get better!

Hey Ornery, offtopic as hell, but I noticed the Roland link in your sig. Do you have experience with the Cube 60 and/or Cube 30? If I just need it for playing in my basement (electric guitar), is the 60 worth the extra money, and is it loud enough to cause a divorce?

I give my marriage "two thumbs up"!!! Life is good and I see many good things to come. It was NOT easy when we started out as a couple but we had a goal for our children and future and things are starting to look great.

Whoever you marry, make sure that that your spouse is your best friend - this is probably the best advice someone else gave me.

At times marriage can be more sucky than others... Over all though I'd say it doesn't suck. :D

Dated from 99-02, married since then, so it's been 7 years now that she's been my SO.

sometimes it sucks, sometimes you cannot believe that you can be with someone so very perfect for you and that they love you and want you as much as you love them.
It is so full of ups and downs, being there for you when you are at your worst.

It is full of new experiences and exploration with that one special person that you can rely on, when you know you need someone to lean on. It is full of petty arguements and pointless bickering, yet deep down, you know you would not want to bicker with anyone else.

I could go on and on.

Marriage is wonderful... it's the monogamy that sucks. :)

However, if you're lucky you might be married to a woman who is very realistic, understands human (especially male) physiological drives, is very secure with herself and understands the difference between sex and love.
And, if you're REALLY lucky, in addition to a wife like this you might live in place with legalized, heavily regulated and safe brothels... like areas of Nevada or Australia for a few examples.

PS: I've been married almost 9 years... best damn years of my life. :)

I am very happy in my marriage. 8 years and three kids, so it's not idle talk.

Honestly I think there's an undercurrent of misogyny in male culture generally and I find a lot of men, in order to vent their frustrations at a difficult relationship take cover in blaming gender.

Personally I tried not to date and would never have married someone I didn't respect as an equal, and every girl I've been with has desired sex as much as I have....

Maybe I'm just lucky, I was born under the sign of the rabbit.

"Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be."

So true where marriage is concerned.
