No idea what the movie is about except it's around a dog. Doesn't make me interested.
Same goes for that Benjamin Button movie. I like Brad Pitt but have no idea what the hell the movie is about so I'm not interested.

I feel the same way about Marley and Me but I want to see that Benjamin Button story b/c it's about a guy who ages backwards.

Why would you go see that idiotic POS? It reminds me of bubble boy... some Hollywood exec owed a favor to someone and a terrible project got greenlit.

My wife wants to go see it on New Years Day. Not sure if I should warn her about the ending or not. Can anyone speak to that without giving it away (unless it's already been given away).

Haven't watched the movie (nor do I want to) but just from what I've gathered in this thread, the dog dies.

I saw it yesterday, and give it a 6.5 to 7.
To those wondering what it's about, basically it's about a guy who gets a dog with the hopes it will prolong his wife's plan to be a mom. Like most choices in life, it doesn't quite go the way he planned.
The ending really got to me, as I had to do the same about 10 years ago. I wasn't alone, as I saw about 15 others wiping their eyes as we left the theater.

I completely agree......it looks like a piece of shit movie that has no clue where it's going. They're advertising it on billboards around Boston making it look like a kid's movie...but the TV ads show it's clearly not. But most adults wouldn't willingly see a movie like that. It's like a kid's movie that's aimed entirely at adults, and fails at both.

The movie was basically about my family, at least in terms of being married with a misbehaving dog and a child (or children, we just have one). Seriously, our dog is about one step down from Marley in terms of behavior, though much of it was in her puppy year which she fortunately outgrew. The scene with them chasing Marley around the house was positively hilarious since I do that frequently.
Anyway, the final portions with Marley getting old were incredibly sad, made even more so by the fact that my 5 year old is going to have to deal with losing our pup when she finally goes. Our dog is 8 now so she's got some years left, but I don't look forward to the day I have to take her to the vet for the last time. I grew up with a dog who was put to sleep when I was 17, and it's a hard thing to take.
I think the next pet is going to be a tortoise or something which outlives us.
I'd say that it's a good movie if you can identify with it, though not exactly uplifting. If you're far from having a family or hate dogs, you'd be better off seeing something else.

How can anyone hate dogs?
