I

I believe that anyone who has a gun for defensive purposes should be required to demonstrate competence not only in firearm handling, but in defensive tactics and situational awareness. Courses can be required at regular intervals which would be graded . I believe in the right of ownership, but with few exceptions owners ought to have practical training. Of course specifics can be worked out, but rather than focusing on the the weapon, concentrate on individual competency and responsibility.

I will say no to that, but YES for that for concealed carry

I feel we have no business telling them they have to meet extraneous requirements merely to keep it in their desk drawer. if they then shoot themself due to their incompetence, thats their problem

but you want to bring it in public? then you better know how to use it

as for situational awarenes.....good luck with that, some of that stuff just isnt trainable :)

yes hes nutty, but in his defense Piers Morgan is a class A douchetard as well and needs to get deported. he verbally pissed on the constitution every second hes on his TV show telling us how shitty our country is. he can bite one.

Really? you want to defend his behavior?

Piers barely said 1 word directed at the man and he flipped out!

I dont think I want people like Adams to have firearms. I am surprised Piers didnt call for security

the definition of unhinged...

Talk about jackass-on-jackass crime. Alex Jones is stark raving mad, and Piers Morgan is a narcissistic blowhard.

That being said, the very idea of deporting someone for expressing their views is not one that can fairly be reconciled with purportedly having a strong interest in protecting the Constitution. The Second Amendment is not more important than the First.

Why does he need to get deported? Because he has a view you don't agree with?

He has every right to express his opinion and thank god that deranged unhinged loon he interviewed didn't have a gun otherwise he may have used it going by his unhinged behavior. He's the very poster boy of a "gun nut".

No, he doesn't. As a foreign national, he isn't protected by the Bill of Rights. Thanks W!

You feel the same way about the Controlled Substances Act, right?

What? It's absolutely true. Just look at GITMO. Don't those men have a right to both due process and a speedy trial?

They get around that by making sure those people aren't on "American soil" although in American custody. Any person within the bounds of the American borders is automatically granted certain rights just as they are expected to behave themselves according to our laws. Those here lawfully are granted every right as everyone else here lawfully.

No they aren't. Second amendment, for example.

It doesn't matter. All we're doing is creating an endless cycle of violence.

There is no "endless cycle of violence" involved when one defends themselves from attack. Completely wrong usage of that phrase.

The desire to have a gun in the first place is the problem. You're correct its people and not guns.

There is absolutely no "problem" with wanting a firearm to defend yourself, anyone that thinks so is the one with the "problem", wanting people to be defenseless.

Alex Jones wants much less government in his life and everyone else's. How is that anything but the definition of modern conservatism?

Just because he's nuts doesn't mean all conservatives are nuts, but he's definitely conservative.

 He's a Libertarian, he even describes himself as one. I can see how someone as far left as you would not be able to tell the difference as it seems that anyone who doesn't worship the gov is suddenly a conservative.

Uhh, I didn't say every right. Just certain ones. The ones that specifically state that they apply to all people in our borders.

Both the first and the second apply to "people". What is the difference?

Serious discussion topic. They were written by the same people at the same time. "People" has to be the same across the two amendments.

I see no hypocrisy. The Constitution is a social contract between the US Government and its citizens .
