    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    March Contest Dates:
    • Photo must be taken between March 1 - 26, 2008.
    • Photo must be submitted by end of day, March 26, 2008.
    • Voting begins the morning of March 26, 2008, and will run through the evening of March 31 .
    • Winner to be announced at the end of voting.
    Primary March 2008 Contest Theme:
    • "Black and White"
      • Let the blacks and the whites merge
      • If there are any questions on the subject matter, let's discuss it here.
    Secondary March 2008 Contest Theme:
    • "Textures "
      • We see these textures every day, what can you do with them?
        [/L]
      • macro?
    Tertiary March 2008 Contest Theme:
    • "Anything Goes"
      • I liked the idea of people taking a picture and it being a awesome shot but it not fitting in any category
      • Please keep the pictures SAFE FOR WORK 😉
    The General Rules:
    • Submitted photos must easily pertain to the contest subject matter.
    • Contest eligible pictures MUST be taken within the dates stated for this month's contest.
    • Only one submitted photo per entrant per catagory
    • Full EXIF info is strongly suggested to be retained with any submitted picture. I am ceasing to make this a requirement, due to the fact that this is merely a fun and no-prize contest.
    • Submitted photos must abide by forum rules (which basically means no nudity)
    Post-Processing Rules:
    • We are now going to dispense with any PP rules. Anything is allowed, but I still want to discourage the following:
      • Try to refrain from turning your photo into "graphic art".
      • I would like to discourage major cloning and photo transplants.
    Submission Rules:
    • Each person is given until the time that I put up the voting to submit their picture. Polls are usually erected the morning of the start date of voting.
    • Smallest picture size available to submit will be limited to 1200 pixels on the smallest side. This gives everyone with atleast a 2MP camera a chance to enter. (Any arguements on this one?) - UPDATE: If anyone has any problems with this, we can dispense with this rule. Now that I think about it, any full-size originals you submit to me will be available for anyone here to grab.
    • Please submit JPG's only! (Highest quality setting for JPG is suggested to reduce compression artifacts.)
    • Your final entry can be made at any time between the start of the contest itself until the submission deadline stated above.
    • Each member will have only ONE chance to submit a final entry for the contest. Once you submit, that is it.
    Submitting Your Entry:
    • There will be two ways to get your photo to me:
      • Email your photo to alfa147x at gmail dot com, and BE SURE to include your username in the body of the email. Sometimes I've had to go back and references people's profiles on here with the email address. Luckily I've not had any problems yet with matching photos to users without having to send emails back and forth. Please send a PM indicating an email has been sent just incase it's put in the spam folder.
      • PM me with a link to your full-size photo on the web.
    Voting:
    • Voting will begin at the date stated at the start of this thread.
    • The gallery will be available to view at all times as pictures are added throughout the contest, however all final entries will be posted in this thread with links, along with a poll at the top of the thread.
    • Voting will stay open until the deadline.
    Prizes:
    • Due to the nature of the contest being ran by regular members, there are no prizes to be offered. You will only gain the satisfaction of being chosen by the members of Anandtech as the best in this month's theme.
    • If any prizes are able to be given away in any future contests, I will be sure to outline the details. If you do not see mention of a prize, then assume there isn't one.
    Errors/Omissions:
    • I try my best to keep everything organized on my end in regards to picture submissions and the names of users that submitted those. If you find any errors, PLEASE let me know so I may correct them. I've not been told that I've linked to wrong pictures, or labeled pictures with the wrong usernames yet, so I must be doing something right. But that's the last thing I want is giving credit for a photo to the wrong person.

~Sorry it took so long, I am at a high school Model UN conference (Indonesia)

This post has been edited at the request of your contest winner as you mitakenly used his real name instead of his forum user name and he has thus far been unable to contact you via PM. If there's a problem, feel free to contact me.

Way to go, little army dudes! "Be all your plastic can be!" 😛

Edit: By the way, your "Odd Lighting" link points to Dug777's photo from the Warm Colors contest in January. 🙂

Excellent. I'll be sure to submit something for this month's contest now that I know it exists. 😛

Since I had an extremely restless night and slept all of 3 hours, I decided to walk down to Penn's Landing this morning hoping to get a few shots of the sunrise to enter in this month's photo contest. However, my attempts were thwarted when the ninja Penn's Landing security force came out of literally nowhere and told me that I wasn't allowed to take any pictures of "that" (that = Philly/Camden waterfront).

Despite all that, it was still a VERY nice morning (60 and clear) and I did get to see the sunrise.

And as far as the pictures go... I'm sure I'll find some other stuff to enter into the contest. 😛

Yeah I know. The worst part was that there were no signs posted that said photography or ANYTHING was prohibited.

Sounds like it's some BS thing then. I never really understood the no taking pictures of things in plain view thing. If someone REALLY wanted to do something, they could easily get around it all.

Oh I'd probably be able to find a way... but honestly I would just rather look for another spot to see the sunrise or sunset. That way I don't get hassled by security or whatever. And as far as I know, anything in plain sight is fair game to photograph legality-wise. Maybe it's different for private property... but I didn't think Penn's Landing was private. 😕

😀 Next time, go back to your car, get a piece of canvas, some paint/pencils, etc.; return back to the exact same spot and start painting a picture of the waterfront instead. Better yet, do a pencil drawing, explain that you're a cartoonist, and lampoon the security.

edit: Oh, and bumped, Dug

I'll be heading down South for Easter, so looking forward to seeing if I can improve on my current 'picks' 😉

Hey!

We still have until the end of today to submit, according to the rules!

I can't get my pics up until I get home, and by default that disadvantages any 'latecomers', even if they're not late.

Voting logically has to start after the closing time, to my mind 😉
