Anyone who says tasers should be banned is an idiot. Sure there are incompetent police officers, andtimes where tasers kill. But have you ever heard of tasers helping police capture a suspect cleanly? No, because it doesnt make for a good story. For every taser death, there 100 people who are subdued with tasers at minimal risk to everyone.

This is exactly correct. Before Tasers the cop had no choice but to shoot to kill or let the perp walk.

Our streets are clean again.

OOH! I think I have a solution!

Ok, so people who don't wish to be tased after ignoring orders from a police offcer, they could get these bracelets - you know, like MedicAlert ones, that say: "Don't Tase Me, Bro - Please Use Your Nightstick!".

Or: "No Tase - Pepper Spray Only, please!" shirts!

well that said pepper spray isn't used that often as it's not localized and plus that cop will have to stick Mr. Pepper into his car at some point. Nightstick use was more rare too. The tazer is like a videogame it seems.

The internal electronics of stun guns aren't exactly rocket science and when you scale the knock-down power against accidental deaths, I'm sure you could document a solid relationship or percentage to back up their failure rate. (I say failure rate to describe them as 'less than lethal')
I think you're describing "Shaped Pulse Technology" that was originally introduced with the X26 in 2003. Relating output power and deaths may not be easy: the number of deaths is small for statistical analysis, the Taser may not record output power, and there are a number of confounding factors associated with real-life use.

haha, any stats to back up your generalizations? Or just going with the general theme of reading a couple taser stories and becoming an expert?

Here's a novel idea, do what the cop says and you won't get tazed.

Yeah, a cop would NEVER misuse a tazer or taze someone that doesn't deserve it. Just do what they say!

Every single one of these is where the perp didn't follow commands. It's not that difficult to understand, really. If you don't follow commands then you most certainly deserve to be tazed.

Sheeple are funny.

The sayings "Discretion is the better part of valor" and "You have to choose your battles" are appropriate when dealing with the police, especially when you are warned repeatedly that you are going to be tazed.

I mean, really, what do you think is going to happen once the officer warns you that you're going to be tazed?:

"Sir, if you do not comply, you will be tazed."
"I did nothing wrong!!!"
"Sir, if you do not comply, you will be tazed."
"I have a right to be here!!"
"Sir, if you do not comply, you will be tazed."
"Your actions are illegal!!!"
"Sir, you are absolutely right. Continue."

I don't think so. Once he warns you that you are going to be tazed, the battle is already lost and you need to focus on the war.

nope, that would require logic to comprehend.

People think that idiots who refuse to follow orders can simply be reasoned with if you pat them on the back and give them candy.

The street is not a courtroom, if you feel you are being wronged then prove it through the proper channels. What does arguing and resisting accomplish?
