Heard on the radio that the deal is dead. The Marlins wanted Ramirez, two prospects and money in excess of Ramirez's remaining contract for this year. Sheesh. Talk about greedy.

Yep just heard that as well. I just dont understand - this deal makes more sense for the Marlins then any other team involved.

Take Manny and hope he gets the Marlins in the playoffs and generate some interest. Use that excitement and try to get that stadium built. After the season is over pick up the 20 mil option and then deal him to a team next year like they did with Piazza back in the day.

I wanted to see this happen as well as it would weaken the Sox's lineup and get Manny away from destroying the Yankees every single series.

Piazza was a Marlin for 7 days...

Word now is the scum Dodgers are interested in him. He and that Red Ass Jeff Kent ought to get along just fine:laugh:

They already tried that tack w/ Carlos Delgado a few years back; it didn't get them a new ballpark.

stupid stupid stupid. What manny does isn't even that bad. So he sits out occasionally, big deal, he's played more than any other Sock outside of Pedroia this year. He's going to put up 120 RBIs, hit 30 homeruns, and bat 300. You DON'T trade that. It's not like he's violently malicious. He says quirky stuff and whines sometimes. The sox always do this type of thing where they try to paint someone they're trying to trade as being bad for the sox.

Plus if they trade Manny you can forget about Ortiz EVER seeing a pitch to hit ever again. No one ever mentions this but part of the reason ortiz can do what he does is because pitchers know that right behind him is an RBI machine. Get rid of that and Ortiz may end up getting walked roughly 400 times in a season.
You're 100% right, but it's Manny that seems to want out every year. It's kinda like the Brett Favre can't decide on retirement saga.

latest rumor is manny to the dodgers.

Manny is quoted as he will waive his no trade clause as long as any team doesn't pick up his option

Boston hasn't pulled off a good deadline deal since 2004. It's maybe not entirely fair to blame Theo et al. for the Gagne debacle last year, since everyone thought that was a great move at the time, but it still turned out terribly.

Man, Sox fans are gonna lynch Theo.
Um, why? Theo isn't going to do a deal that's going to hurt his team. So what if the Rays got Bay?

yeah, all the trades he made ended up good.....

Arroyo has gone south (although getting nothing in return was pretty bad)

Nomar has really done nothing but get hurt (did the replcement SS reall makes us win the WS???? agin, you oculd debate if we got anything in return...)

Pedro is not Pedro anymore (lost to free agency, so that may not count).....

Wait....maybe I should chngne good to "indifferent".

Well there goes this years Playoffs for the Red Sox. Fucking Epstien, gives away the farm just so he doesn't have to deal with Ramirez.
