Personally, I wouldn't go with either. I have experience with both, and they limit you a great deal. They may try and cater to the needs of a new user, but I'm an advocate in learning an Operating System before you let it do everything for you. Then again, that's just my opinion...Mandrake or Red Hat?

ive heard slackware and debian are good distros for linux.
