:disgust: Don't mean to sound macho but to leave someone like that to the mercy of a raging madman with a military knife is just cowardly. Heck, two, three of them could've teamed up.

Why'd you run off the Bus then?

Wow. 36 people and NO ONE HELPED? WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO.
it's really odd. i feel terrible for the victim and the victim's family... but my immediate second thought is... why? why couldn't someone have done something? makes you wonder if there isn't more to this story. one knife-wielding guy vs. 36...

🙁

What I've read makes it sound like the whole thing happened so fast that it would have been too late to help the victim anyway, he was already dead or dying fast. I'm just saying... this thread is full of people who weren't there talking about what they think would have happened if they were.
yeah. lots of hypothetical heroes in our midst.

you are joking, right?

you would have tackled him then, in an enclosed environment, totally unexpected, when you're probably sleeping, woken up to screams, and seeing a horror show?

Im not scared of any man ive met, but if i was in that situation (if anyone was in that situation) I would have panicked. Kimbo Slice would have shat himself.

This man stabbed this guy 50 times, cut his head off and gutted him, on a bus ffs!

you telling me you would have teamed up against him? thats the biggest load of shit ive ever heard!!

btw, passengers, the bus driver and a truck driver did team up against him, shutting him in, potentially saving other lives

and another thing, if there were any policemen, delta force or a superhero on board, their first priority would be to get the public off the bus.

those civilians did well, considering there were children and eldery travellling

Wow a hole bunch of Rambos on this thread. I bet they would have all ran away like the people on the bus.

On 911, 4 planes got hijacked by people with SMALL knives. The hijackers killed people on the planes and nobody tried to defend themselves or tried to rescue the victims. NOBODY. It was not until the pasengers found out that the planes would be flown into buildings that they did gather the courage to defend themselves. I would suggest they only defended themselves because they had no way out, unlike the people on the bus.

You might argue that there was more then one attacker, I would argue that there was more then 34 people on each airplane and that, if they would have tried, the passengers could have save countless lives by defending themselves.

Not the case on that bus, the victim was already dead by the time people realized what was happening and everybody else got off the bus SAFELY.

Yet, I didn't read any comments about how the people on the planes should have defended themselves. I did not read comments about how cowardly those people were.
Why?

i'm thinking it's because they all died. it's kinda hard to rip on people that didn't survive the 911 tragedies. other than the terrrrrrists, of course.

IIRC, the hijackers claimed to have bombs, too. I think that is the reason the passengers were hesitant to defend themselves or to attack the hijackers.

Regardless, it's crazy what happened on that bus.

Yea, if I had a keyboard handy, I could have used that, too. They had overhead luggage they could use to block a knife attacker. There were all kinds of options available to help this guy defend his life. The fact the military guy did nothing but panic only allowed the attacker to continue his rampage. If I had been at the front of the bus when this happened then it would have been more difficult to get to the back and save his life. But sitting in front of the attacker, there is plenty an able bodied male can do to stop this when he hears it start.

If the guy had a gun, then yea, I might have ducked or run for cover, but a hunting knife? Are you f-ing kidding me? I would have kicked the crap out of that maniac from over the seat, for starters, and you don't want to know what I would have done to him after that. That's not being a hero, that's reacting to a dire situation where you have to help save someones life. Now, if there was a gang attacking him, I might have run away too, I'm not stupid. But one on one, you better watch your ass around me, I won't put up with that shit.

Exactly. Once I started subduing the attacker, I almost guarantee you, I would have had help from someone else.

Hey Slicksnake, this one is for you.

You better not pull that knife crap on someone with me around, or you will find out how much of a badass I am. I have beat and kicked the shit out of delinquents pulling knifes on me before, and I won't even flinch about doing it again. You just choose to be a coward, and naturally assume everyone else is, too. You can't fathom helping anyone else in a life threatening situation, and I can. That's why I am on a fire department, and your not. Most chicken shits run from fires, and I run into fires. Tell me who the coward is again? That's what I thought.

Logical to think of now. None of us here know exactly what it was like to be in that situation.

As far as I'm concerned, people can't really conjecture as to what they would do. You really have no clue as you were not there.

That's a cowards comfy rationalization, I'm afraid. For an example, even if an air marshal has no weapon, he will put himself on the line to protect the passengers, at any cost. I am also in that category. I don't do anything half-assed and I have a plan to protect myself or others at all times, while many here obviously have one plan in an emergency, RUN AWAY!

This is why the hijackers were able to intimidate passengers with box cutters, since that keeps coming up. Obviously they were not using the box cutters except to subdue the passengers for the most part. If they were running up and down the isles slashing people, then obviously it would have caused a riot and they would not have taken over those planes.

The fact the passengers on those flights sat there passively and did nothing was because of the threat of violence, not the act of it. And whatever happened in the cockpits was not readily known to them, either. Otherwise, they might have reacted differently early on. For example during the last flight 93 where they found out they were going to die like the rest already had crashing into a building. When they realized this, they fought back, but not until then.

Ran into any burning buildings lately, Stinky? I think the real cowards here are pretty much making themselves obvious. Don't you, Stink?

In my experience, those that talk themselves up the most usually have nothing. Sorry buddy, I think you're all talk and nothing will change my opinion.

Btw, nice to know you think people that aren't trained or have the equipment to fight fires are "chickenshits" because they run away from it. Is that the normal attitude from firefighters?
