Oliver said a truck driver then arrived at the scene and handed out wrenches and crowbars to several men. The small group gathered around the door to the bus and prevented the man from exiting until police arrived

I love truck drivers. They're down for whatever.

read this:

"The man, with the head in one hand and the butcher knife in the other, then tried to attack the other passengers, said Oliver.

The group was able to exit the bus and slammed the door behind them.

The man then stabbed the door with his knife but was unable to break through and get off the bus. Eventually, he attempted to start up the bus to drive away but the operator had hit a switch, disabling the vehicle

Oliver said a truck driver then arrived at the scene and handed out wrenches and crowbars to several men. The small group gathered around the door to the bus and prevented the man from exiting until police arrived.

Obviously a mentally deranged individual and something that could happen anywhere. Completely messed-up.

I wonder what was going through the victim's head at the time of the stabbing. Other than the butcher knife I mean.

Yeah, sure helped the victim, didn't it?

instead of fleeing.. someone could of helped the victim. How many seconds does it take to pull out a gun and shoot some mental retard? How many minutes does it take to get outside of the bus, wait for a truck driver willing to get involved... wait for the truck driver to get wrenches and crobars, form a groups of "tool" armed men and get the perp?

Even without a gun, who sees someone getting stabbed and says, "Everybody, let's RUN!" Jesus christ, fight back people.

Lets see, someone beside you is getting stabbed and head sliced off. You will be calm enough to CALMly take out our firearm from your luggage and shoot the person? Sorry buddy you are not SAS, Rangers or Navy seals. Try your firearm arguement elsewhere.

your logic fails. I've either played as each in video games or watched them in movies, and am thus fully qualified to shoot the wings off a fly if I so choose.

I don't think there would have been time to react anyway. Based on this:
Garnet Caton, who was sitting in front of the victim, heard the commotion and turned around thinking he was going to witness a fight.

He likely wouldn't have even noticed what was going on until the victim was mortally wounded anyway. Might have kept the nut job from sawing the head off of the kid, but sounds like the kid would have died anyway.

That said, I'm appalled that they just high-tailed it out. Surely they could have taken the guy down some how, which is I'm sure a thought that will haunt the other passengers for the rest of their lives. "What if we had only..."

Hell yes I'd shoot the guy.

My gun's on belt, not in my luggage. Carrying an inaccessible firearm is pointless. I never ride DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) trains or buses without a sidearm. Of course, I never go anywhere without my sidearm. :)

Hmm, let's rush a guy who is cutting someone's head off with a butcher knife or just someone shoot the bisch....

Gonna have to vote for the gun.

Man, if I had a nickel every time I read about someone getting their head chopped off on the bus, I could buy like 50 guns.

Yep, those guys have seen (almost) everything. That's some horror movie shit right there, though.
