Oops, wrong gun

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- A Tri-State woman is in critical condition Wednesday after police say her husband shot her while they were having sex.

Timothy Havens, 38, told Springfield police he was reaching for something on the nightstand when the pistol went off, hitting his estranged wife Carolyn in the upper chest. (Hear part of the 911 call)

Carolyn Havens, 42, is being treated at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Damn! I'd feel pretty bad.

That's gotta lead to some kinky sex-related trauma.

I'm was hoping to see a few "shot his load" jokes in here by now 🙁

It would have been funnier if he had shot his dick off.

Who in their right mind has a firearm not in their full control in a ready to fire state?

Plenty of people do. I personally have decided not to keep a round in the chamber in the handgun that resides in my drawer purely to avoid accidents like this. I can say that I've never accidently touched the weapon though, but in an invasion I can remember to chamber a round.

If I had my shotgun loaded and ready for defense, I would keep a round in the chamber with the safety on however.

Depends on the situation.

do you keep it at the bed pointed at yourself and your wife while you're doing the deed?

'cause for it to shoot her it was either

A) already pointed in their direction
B) spun around in such a way that it ended up pointed at the two of them.

hitting his estranged wife Carolyn in the upper chest.

if she was "estranged" before the incident...I call bullshit....he was just trying to save his wallet from alimony and child support.

what type of gun and how many pounds of pressure is required to fire off a round?

Typical handgun is anywhere from 3 to 11 lbs of pressure to fire. There are only two things in the drawer, a handgun and a flashlight. I don't accidently touch the gun. But mines not ready to fire anyways.

I have a Kahr PM40, it doesn't even have a safety. You just don't cock and chamber a round until you're ready to shoot. For me it's draw, cock, aim, and shoot and that is the way I practice it.

I guess when we get right down to it we all shoot our women during sex.......just not that way, and with much softer bullets.
