F'ing religious fundi's...they're going to end up being the death of us all...

How is he a religious fundi? Where in the bible does it say thou shalt put up a giant lighted ornament in your yard and piss off your neighbors?

Dick is acting like a dick. Has nothing to do with his supposed religious beliefs.

Yes it does. He says this repeatedly in the article.

Doesn't matter as long as they have economic freedom.

I can see a single mother having a much harder time unloading a child and groceries when she can't park where she wants on her own property. No one has suggested that her marital status bears any legal relevance here, but you better believe it matters in the realm of good manners and consideration for your neighbors, something that shouldn't be unknown territory for 'a good christian who loves the lord.'
It isn't pity for a victim that causes stores to provide special parking spots for expectant mothers, likewise there is no pity involved when airlines allow mothers with young children to board the plane first. It's just good ol consideration that mothers deserve (IMO).
She doesn't have a man of her own in the house, if Behr had a fraction the moral fortitude and piety he thinks he has, he would be going out of his way to help her out.

Maybe it's just my old fashioned, secular humanist pagan ways, but I really feel bad for her to have a guy like that screwing with her life. I also feel bad for the better christians out there who are maligned by this ass disrespecting their common faith over wanting to have a pissing match. The local churches should be hounding this ass, asking him to think about how this reflects on him as a christian, and what would he think if his sister, mother, or own wife were in his neighbors shoes.

the street in front of your house, isnt yours, FWIW. I explain this to my wife all the time. anyone can and will park there whenever.

but that doesnt make it right, I agree. hes being a huge dick. But the way the paper presents the story with the mentioning of her single motherhood etc makes it look less like a legit article and more like a pity party....

Hatfields and McCoys lite ver. 1.∞

The most recent local spat I can recall had a neighbor #1 with loud parrots vs. neighbor #2 retaliating with stupid-loud fusion jazz.

N#1 ends up suing N#2 for terrifying her birds preventing them from making baby squawkers thus destroying her only source of income.

N#2 counter-sues claiming the screechers keeps her from sleeping during the day as she works at night.

Last I heard N#2 bought two very large and very loud guard dogs and put them out at the property line between the two as she leaves for work every day and one of the dogs has apparently died from food poisoning, with N#1 claiming the dog probably ate one of the numerous toads frequenting the area.

Good. We need to start eradicating public symbols of faith in this country. Faith should be a private, shameful thing like racism or homophobia. You shouldn't be proudly displaying your backwards beliefs for all to see.

Tell that to Behr. This lady isn't claiming ownership of the street, she just wants access to her house as is her right by living there. Seems like he's treating the street as his personal vehicle depo, and that isn't even taking into account all the vehicles of employees and other contractors that probably stop by for payment, materials, or to swap their personal ride for a work site vehicle. Running a business out of your home does not give you the right to ignore the zoning and traffic restrictions that the rest of the neighborhood abides by, it's just that simple.

That depends on where you live, but generally if someone is blocking your access you are allowed to say and do something about it. It's been established that we're not just talking about a single car here as well. When I lived in Florida I had some neighbors who threw a big party and had dozens of cars up and down the whole street, blocking driveways, fire hydrants, and basically reducing the width of the street to slightly less than one lane. Civil requests were made, and were rudely rejected. The cops paid a visit and started writing tickets, with promises of people getting towed if the situation wasn't rectified within the hour. Sounds far from total freedom in parking, but like I said, depends on where you live.

but that doesnt make it right, I agree. hes being a huge dick. But the way the paper presents the story with the mentioning of her single motherhood etc makes it look less like a legit article and more like a pity party....

I guess that is subjective; my guess was it was included to underline just how much a douche this guy is, given his sudden zeal to display his faith. The Judeo Christian ethos generally advocates protecting and ethical treatment of women and children. To be fair tho, it was the ladies own words that designated her as single.

How is this different from Chrismas decorations or decorations for halloween?

I can see how erecting any permanent lighted structure in a housing area may violate building codes. For instance this could be said to require a building permit. It could also be categorized as a sign and fall under legislation about signs.

There is a thing such as trying to get along with your neighbors.

This is also similar to those people who need to put a deer or a statue of the virgin mary or stupid gnomes in their lawn.

This has nothing to do with faith or religion. This is about one neighbor trying to be as much of an ass as possible over the neighbor's complaints about his code violations, like blocking neighboring drive ways with construction vehicles.

Yeah... that...

The same thing happens if you are replacing your roofing or doing landscaping or trimming your tree. In the area I live in you can not tear down a delapidated old building. So the Government force people to live in delapidated old buildings that are a little better than shelter for rats. If people could knock down old delapidated buildings, then newer green oriented structures to live in, could be built.

This is how the government holds back improvements and development. The Government is the problem, not the solution.
