I know a bunch of contractors too, there's no mention in the article about what was parked where, except her complaining about him supposedly violating some "zoning regulations".

Then you know that a residential area is no place for equipment that belongs at a work site or industrial park, cool. I agree though, there is a lack of detail in that story that would really help ascertain who is in the wrong here. Somehow I doubt that simple complaints weren't enough to push this guy into spending time and money to irritate this lady, not to mention disrespecting the religion he claims to love and then using it as scapegoat of sorts. Could he really be that much of a prick? Is he close friends with her ex or something? *shrug*

You can stereotype islamic fundies all you want, it's when you do it to non-fundie muslims that makes you look like an asshat, which then embarrasses the non asshat Americans who know better.

Try to ignore FNE. He's just trying out his new IBM Trollectric II keyboard.

Light pollution? lol, someone better send the sun a ticket. Seems that her problem sleeping, if she has one, is that she doesn't like what her neighbor is doing, not that the light is keeping her up. Being a dick isn't against the law. Personally I don't really care one way or the other, but if he isn't breaking any laws, than it's his property so she shouldn't worry about it. I'm pretty sick of people in this country thinking everyone should be doing what they think is right. People need to mind their own fucking business.

In the movie idocracy Luke Wilson's character was convicted of "being a dick". Considering where we are going, it is only a matter of time before that is against the law as well.

That should be legal, also, there should be no setbacks or regulations for property.
If I want to build a 100 foot tower out of toothpicks in my front yard 3 feet from the road, I should be able to!!!!! whine

One of his neighbours should build a giant penis. I bet that would set him off.

a)Hold up, she's a single mother who has a vindictive asshole across the street interfering with her xfering to and from, and sleeping within, her own damn house.

b) She also seems to have a better grasp on the tenants of christianity than Mr. Behr who is hiding behind the cross to commit blatant acts of douchebaggery.

c)If she was a bitch, a sleep deprived one at that, she probably would have resorted to slashing tires, pouring sand in gas tanks, etc etc. by now, but there is no mention of vandalism in the story. Hmmmm.

d)the only thing I want to know is if she bothered to ask him to stop it first, or did she go straight to the cops. I'm guessing from the tone of both in the article, that she did and his response was anything but courteous and respectful.

a) what does 'single mother' have to do with this? nothing. its "victimization" behavior. her marital status/# of kids has ZERO bearing on whethere the dude is breaking a law ETC

b) she sure does

c) for all we know she calls the cops about him all the time no matter if hes doing anything actively wrong, the article is pretty clearly biasd toward her....but your point does stand somewhat as accurate

d) I agree

I totally think the dude is being a huge assbag, but if hes withone all zoning/code issues, shes only making it worse(obviously) and hes a selfrighteous assbag that is a horrible christian. hell, hes a horrible person. based on the article

That should be legal, also, there should be no setbacks or regulations for property.

ha good luck! depending on how commercial the small airstrip near wauconda is, the FAA may control over yours ability to build a tower!

The lighting is the issue for me. You can have it, but it should be allowed to be illuminated, not in a residential area. There is nothing more annoying than a neighbor's bright lights at night.

THen why didn't he have about 8 yards of rock delivered to his neighbors house in the middle of the night, instead of doing this on his own property?

I guess its a little known fact. Owning property does NOT mean you can do or put anything on it. Even without an HOA, most do not have the ability to do anything they want on their land.

The dude better watch out or eventually the city would eventually be able to get a judgement and lien placed on his house for unpaid citations and judgements. Ultimately, he could lose his property.

This has nothing to do with faith or religion. This is about one neighbor trying to be as much of an ass as possible over the neighbor's complaints about his code violations, like blocking neighboring drive ways with construction vehicles.
However, they are using religion to bash each others. And, to make matter worst these are the same aholes that will go out of their way and bash everyone else that don't share the same faith as them. A.K.A Muslim basing, etc...

Thanks for that joke about light pollution during the day John, gave me the good laugh I needed today. :)
I'm sure that she has tried that route before it is escalating to cop calling. The problem started over parking space which is a code violation.

I'm not sure where you are from but in my area you are not allow to have more than 2 vehicles parking on the street in front of your resident, and no more than 4 vehicles in your driveway/parking lot and only if you acquired a business permit & parking that is also subject to your neighbors approvals in a residential/light commercial zone.

And, facing the house that he is disputing with. The lights is a code violation by itself.

Hehehe, I wasn't bein serious, I was being full of shit...
Code is there for a reason. Sometimes code may seem a bit excessive, but you can always try to get exceptions in court.

Nothing against religion or the cross erecters religious beliefs and freedoms. But towns have ordinances to deal with issues like these and they must be heeded. It seems clearly improper to erect such a structure, probably without a permit, in such a way that it will clearly impair the neighbor's right to privacy. Things like a church cross, should be where there actually is a church. And even then, lighting must be controlled or placed in such a way as to not create a nuisance for anyone living near it. As to the parking of construction equipment in a residential area, in most towns, that is also against local or sometimes, state codes / laws. It takes up too much residential street space, can harm roadbeds and generally is very noisy when it is started to move it to a job site (and this will usually be early like 6AM or so) So I can side with his neighbor's complaint about the equipment parking (if that is the case)

I can see a single mother having a much harder time unloading a child and groceries when she can't park where she wants on her own property. No one has suggested that her marital status bears any legal relevance here, but you better believe it matters in the realm of good manners and consideration for your neighbors, something that shouldn't be unknown territory for 'a good christian who loves the lord.'
It isn't pity for a victim that causes stores to provide special parking spots for expectant mothers, likewise there is no pity involved when airlines allow mothers with young children to board the plane first. It's just good ol consideration that mothers deserve (IMO).
She doesn't have a man of her own in the house, if Behr had a fraction the moral fortitude and piety he thinks he has, he would be going out of his way to help her out.

Maybe it's just my old fashioned, secular humanist pagan ways, but I really feel bad for her to have a guy like that screwing with her life. I also feel bad for the better christians out there who are maligned by this ass disrespecting their common faith over wanting to have a pissing match. The local churches should be hounding this ass, asking him to think about how this reflects on him as a christian, and what would he think if his sister, mother, or own wife were in his neighbors shoes.
