Except that Batman, as a 'superhero' set in some kind of vague reality (as far as movies go), was not a terrible idea.

Superman, with his super-lame power of being...'super'...really does not seem to hold the same promise. Also Christopher Nolan should be legally allowed to beat the shit out of anyone who compares him to Zack Snyder.

How about people comparing him to himself? He's heavily involved in producing this even if he didn't take the Director billing.

Given the poor reviews and the length of the movie (2.5 hours), I'm tempted to cancel my ticket for the midnight showing for tonight. I'd rather not kill my sleep for a movie with such poor ratings, and based on reviews that I've read, I doubt I will like it.

Wait until the audience reviews it IMO. I bet it'll be somewhere in the 80s. I've found a good number of critical reviews nitpick about points I could care less about to justify their review.

So go to a earlier showing.

There is one here at 7 I plan on going and it's a small town.

I hear it's all action and style with little substance. If RT is any indication, it will end rotten. Movies always start high and go down as more critics rate the thing.

Edit: Down to 59% already. It started at 70 something Tuesday.

I wouldn't mind if it was longer just to get the story right. Hopefully the action makes up for lack of story, if that is the case.

There aren't any at 7 PM here, because those were reserved by Walmart for their Man of Steel promotion. :\

I just cancelled the tickets and bought new ones for Sunday afternoon. I get matinee pricing ($2 cheaper), and since I actually get sleep on the weekends (vs. 4-5 hours on the weekdays), I won't be tired and grumpy... like an old, senile man. 😛

Do you mean longer than it already is? It's 2.5 hours long already! 😱

WTF? GTFO, WMDC was a POS.
The non directors cut was an amazing, absolutely stunning piece of shit, so I cannot imagine what crime one would have to commit for such punishment as a longer version to be levied. Rorsach was excellent. The rest of the movie was my ability to speak to how much shit it ate.

Reviews to man of steel make it sound like another gargantuan 30 hour epic of super hero boredom. I will skip this one. These super hero remakes are pretty much universally unwatchable with very few exceptions. The last superman movie from a few years ago was one of the few movies I didn't even bother finishing. I found the story writing far superior in The Human Centipede 2.

Certified Rotten!

I guess having the best trailer of the year doesn't mean your movie will be good. I bet it's still probably a lot better than the first superman reboot in 2006 or whatever. There was a guy here at 1pm in line with a chair for the 12AM showing, I bet he's still the only one in line, what a dope 😛 - Also he will probably be really disappointed in the movie.

This thing is getting torn apart in the reviews, no way it can be that bad.

I'd be more interested in audience reviews than professionals. having listened to one do reviews each week for a couple years now, they love to give deductions for the theatrical process than enjoying what's being shown in front of you.

They really shouldn't bother making kick-ass trailers for sub-par movies. In the age of rottentomatoes and easily accessible movie reviews, a trailer, no matter how awesome it is, can't fool the public into buying tickets for a movie with no substance. I had high hopes for this movie based on the awesome trailers they put out. But based on the rottentomatoes reviews (currently 59% and likely to go down more), I might just save the $34 and wait till it comes on BRD and watch it in the comfort of my home theater. A 59% doesn't justify the IMAX 3D prices they charge for 2 tickets.
