Hate to threadcap, but I can't understand people that don't give a crap about human beings and have so much compassion for animals. Most people I know that are addicted/psychotic about their animals are the same people that treat their fellow humans like crap.

Thanks for the sympathy. I know everyone gets like this when their dog dies.

You find yourself still holding the door open for nobody waiting for him to come in or go out with you and it hits you, again and again.

It sounds so petty but the relationships is so real its crazy.

Some people say ahh its just a dog! But that's crazy to me. That dog has seen me at my best and worse and never did anything to hurt me etc. In fact I threw fits and he would simp out of the room after I yelled at him for sitting so close to my chair I stepped on him by accident getting up. I'd be mad I almost twisted my ankle but he's the one how got stepped on right?

Then he'd simp back in with his head down like "Am I alright to be here boss? I just wanna lay in that far corner to be in the room with you even though you're mad at me." All while knowin damn well it was my fault. Pretty petty in the end but it speaks volumes about their loyalty.

Mans best friend has always been like a saying to me. I understood it, but never really got it you know? Not until this morning. That dog was everything to me and I never fully realised it until he was on his way out.

is it really that odd to have so much more loyalty and compassion for an animal that doesn't judge, mock, or do anything but bring you joy?

Because animals don't have the capacity for hate and idiocy that people do.

Oh, lighten up.

I was just trying to make light of the situation.

Examples:

So I bucked up and held him on his way out man. Layed next to him for that physical contact you know?
He must have been laying like that forever before I woke up, just silently fighting on my bedroom floor.

I'm not questioning having loyalty and compassion for a dog. Heck I love my dog very much and would be devestated if he died. Its the attitude of, "I don't mind seeing people die, but a dead god brings me massive grief" that bothers me.

I think the question is are you high, do you have a dog?

This was as heart felt a description of a dog and his friends last moments I've ever read,
truly poignant, I'm touched and saddened by his loss.

The kind of pain losing a pet causes almost makes having them in the first place not worth it.

OP, you have my deepest sympathies.

This has got me real messed up I'm a wreck. I don't even get like this when friends die honestly.

It's crazy. I woke up this morning and saw him lieing there having a real hard time breathing. You know how you can just tell. His health declined like crazy over the last 2 weeks.

So anyways I wake up and see him, try to get him up and he lifted his head but it was like falling to the side. Sh!ts got me so fvcked up right now. Watching that last struggle.

So I told my mom this was it you know? I said "He's in bad shape, he's dieing." My little brother came down and the vets wasn't open yet. I'm the only grown up dude in the house so I'm sitting with him. When it was time to go to the vet he was on his way out. I didn't wanna let my mom and brother see him like that, with his body failing and sh!t man. So I shut the door on them.

Man I didn't know what to do, if I should turn him one way so he could breath better, was I makin it worse? But the two times I helped him adjust he was lifeless. Warm but he had nothing. It was such a broken sight. Sh!t by the end I wanted to put him out myself or put myself out before him.

So I just sat there slumped over him like a fvckin 5 year lookin into his eyes and talkin to him while rubbing his head and getting the hair outta his eyes. He must have been laying like that forever before I woke up, just silently fighting on my bedroom floor.

I didn't wanna act wierd you know? Just console him on his way out but it was so fvcked up. So I bucked up and held him on his way out man. Layed next to him for that physical contact you know? When a dog lays near your feet and takes comfort in that simple physical contact. I loved that dog honestly. It was like holding a family member. He was so helpless and lookin at me like "I'm trying."

It was crazy, the loneliest sh!ttiest day of my life to date. Just being in my room alone with him with mom and the little brother in the kitchen waiting.

I wanted to get to the hospital so they can put him to sleep but I knew he was just gonna go out in the car by himself in the back seat uncomfortable looking at the car door you know?

The sh!t that broke my heart was when my mother told the vet to keep his bed for him you know? Man he went down fighting but fvck if he didn't go down with me.,

I have broken my neck and back in a car wreck, lost friends and family etc. but this has been hands down the hardest 30 minutes of my life to date.

almost exact same thing happened with my cat Tom this past november, I know exactly how you feel, I'm sorry man. It's good you were there for it though. I had another couple cats day when I was away and I still wonder if they were wondering where I was when they died :( :(. But I'm glad i was there for at least one of them when he died. He knew he was in good company, be happy it had a good life.

Yea I hear you.

He had a great life with us. And I always fell back on that when I thought the time came.

But he went out so quick. Yesterday he was running around playing with the mail man and out in the garden running through tomatoe plants with my mom.

I woke up and was literally like "ohhhhh sh!t"

Life goes on and time heals the harshest wounds but I'm glad you all related and showed some compassion. I have to admit, when you're down and out, getting some love and sympathy from people on the internet is a lot easier than breaking down in front of my mom.

I'm hurtin right now so thanks, honestly, with the sincerest intention.

I did not mean funny ha-ha.

Ugh, it's too late to go back now, but some of you are getting the wrong impression from my post. I found it amusing that he said "man" and "you know" every other sentence, OK?

In no way was I thread crapping or anything. I said I was sorry that he lost his pet. I have certainly lost pets, I know exactly how he feels and I would probably just about die if I lost my kitty.

Geez, folks. Don't be so quick with the torches and pitchforks.

I've heard people say that, but I always feel that having a friend like that and seeing the whole course of their life unfold within the span of yours, and all the fun you can have far outweighs the end.

For those who don't understand the depth of the loss I will say this, the bond between human and dog is only limited by person.

I hear you, it's not a big deal really.

I kind of felt that way when I wrote it but my brain just opened up and I'm trying to depressurize some of the sh!t I've had pounding on the sides of my head for the last 4 hours since I can't do it in front of friends or family.

I'm not mad and I don't think you're as dismissive in real life, or even on here.

I understood what you were saying.
