I just don't understand what would drive people to do this. What a horrible thing to do.

I defy you to give me one example of anyone ever knowingly doing the wrong thing.

😕

When you IQ gets to 1 we'll sign you up for philosophy class.
What are you, a precocious 6 year old?

If you choose to do something, you weigh all the consequences you are capable of thinking of, and make a decision based on your perspective, attitude, and knowledge, and no matter how much evidence is stacked up on the "wrong" side, if you do the opposite, it is absolutely because you think what you are doing is right for you. Every person that has ever lived has done exactly and exclusively what they wish and nothing else.

I stole a candy bar once. Society, my upbringing, my friends, all say this is clearly wrong, yet the desire to have the candy bar outweighed all of those things for me, making the decision right for me, despite later remorse, judgment, or punishment.

A more extreme example: an innocent man is being tortured. He holds out as long as he can, but when the pain becomes too excruciating, he makes up a story and confesses to a crime he did not commit. Even though he was being tortured, he confessed because he wanted to NOT because he was being tortured. The torture was just a motivator which caused him to change his perspective and attitude, and ultimately squawk.

As someone pointed out, right and wrong only exist in a theological/philosophical vacuum. They are not real in any sense of the word.

I am merely pointing out the fallacy and obviousness in saying things like "I just don't understand what would drive people to do this.", because statements like this are the most obvious lies printed. A. You certainly can understand it. B. You could also actually do it under the correct set of circumstances, as both you and the perpetrator are almost certainly human.

Saying garbage like that just so you can feel like your on some kind of higher moral plateau when everybody comes and agrees with you is just a waste of space.

The crack about the IQ was in earnest. To me this is all quite obvious, so to find people confused over the remarks is highly dismaying to me, because this is like intro to philosophy stuff. I lose patience with humanity when I find most participants are stupid, and most by choice.

I forgot to include that part of the title of the thread is "...wtf is wrong with people?"

I hate that question, again because it seeks to morally elevate the questioner over "people".

In answer, there is nothing wrong with people. People work just fine. The question should never be what is wrong with people. People are natural occurrences in nature. We never ask wtf is wrong with that lion when it kills and eats a cute little sick baby gazelle, or what's wrong with that chimpanze when it tears the nuts off of one of its rivals for sport, or what's wrong with that male dolphin that just forcibly detained and raped the female one after killing her mate.

How did this turn into a philosophy debate? The sole topic of this thread should be thinking of the most painful methods of punishment to inflict on this subhuman.

Um, I have a child and there is no possible way for me to understand why someone would do this either...😕

What he said. I have 4, and I simply cannot imagine ever being angry enough at any of them, or at my spouse, to do something like this.

you are a pompous idiot.

A man with a history of mental problems

I'd say this sentence makes it pretty clear.

"I just don't understand what would drive people to do this."

I find it a pretty weird thing to say as well, considering someone would pretty much have to have mental issues to do something like this - so unless you know what its like to be insane you probably wouldn't understand what would drive someone to do this. I guess it just makes people feel better about themselves to know that they have no idea why people like this would do things like this - and then make that known on a message board full of strangers.

Given the join date, the total number of posts, and the content of those contributions, I can only speculate SphinxnihpS is an entity not unlike the creature from Jeepers Creepers. It awakens for short intervals, raises unholy havoc, and then retires until such time the celestial allignment harkens it's imminent return. The present killing spree should be over soon.

.

You mean like asking people to debate philosophy in a thread dedicated to a totally unrelated news story just so you can prove to everyone how smart you think you are?

So it wasn't completely obvious that this comment was made in jest? Are people on this forum really getting this naive?

I am clearly wrong here?

I know I am rude, but honestly, when I call someone stupid, it's because I wish they were smarter. Awareness...

I CAN'T FATHOM...

I CAN'T COMPREHEND...

I CAN'T IMAGINE...

WTF IS WRONG WITH "PEOPLE"...

I COULD NEVER...

LOOK HOW GOOD I AM!

LOOK HOW GOOD I AM!

LOOK MA NO HANDS!

Ask yourself why you need to tell people this message.

When you are done concluding it is because you are a self-centered, pathetically stupid, vapid attention seeker, then you may retract the title of this thread and change it to LOOK HOW GOOD I AM, and we can ignore it accordingly. Your supposition that you have provided us with an interesting and valuable news story is nothing more than a clever lie you have concocked for yourself.

I have been here longer and made more posts than you, so you can assume all you want about my alias(es), and you will be wrong every time, though I do appreciate the anology. I wish I had it's skin.

No I am not Red Dawn! He wishes.

Killing kids like that, ugh 🙁
Then the woman who starved her 4yr old to 10lbs.
3rd graders that plot to tie up and torture teacher.

I'm convinced family values have gone all to hell.

I just can't comprehend me doing something like that.
I would eat a bullet before allowing myself to do that.

Here seems to be a pretty cut and dry case where someone should get the death penalty. The man admits to killing the kids with apparently no remorse over the fact, and his main motive appears to be to "make the ex suffer". Anyone who is so careless about another human life that they would allow something so petty as making another suffer justify killing is unsaveable. If prison is for correcting prisoners and preparing them to come back into society, I don't think the uncorrectable should be allowed to damage our society further by having us through money and care at them for the rest of their life.

Nah... Give this guy a few life sentences in a Federal "pound me in the ass" prison, and make sure that everyone knows that he was a child killer. In fact, it wouldn't hurt to remind folks about it every few weeks. Trust me, he'll be wishing that he got the death penalty!

The thing is that people like him get put in protective custody in prisons.
Doing what you suggest is considered 'cruel and unusual punishment'
It sickens me too.
Instead he will be put in a cell of his own for 23 hours a day, fed, and given medical care, for the rest of his life.

It is crimes like this that make me wish public capital punishment still existed. I would love to personally torture someone like this to death.

That's sickning, specially considering people in the US have to work and pay for their own healthcare, but people in jail get it free (from taxes people pay). WTF is wrong with the goverment. I won't point my finger directly at the US goverment since I'm sure its just as bad here... first off, killers, abusers etc in jail should get 0 health care. If they get sick, too bad. They should be forced to live on 2 cups of water per day and maybe a few slices of bread per week.

Now for the less serious crimes like drugs, stealing etc, different story, give them healthcare and decent needs, but murderers, no.

Yeah it is sickening.
Average cost is $35K per prisoner per year.
Thats more than some people make.

I say put them all in tents in the desert. If they run shoot them.
Its sickening that a murderer like that will be living off tax payers for the rest of his life.
