I wondered that too- it sounds like if he as much runs over a squirrel in the road, or hits a deer, then he's screwed. Especially if he runs over a neighborhood dog or cat.

I don't think people should be jailed for animal cruelty. Though I do think they need a psychiatric evaluation or locked in a mental institute. People like that have a tendency to be a real threat to society. What's the use of sending them to prison for a few months or years and then have them coming out serial killers doing that to people?

Only in the US does this happen. Who gives a damn if you kill a dog in China?

Don't they eat them?

Hmm.... Could this fall under "unusual punishment"??

im 500% with you. ive eaten dog, ostrich, whale, etc. im an everythingVore. if animals are tastey id eat them.

however, it was this guy's intent simply to hurt an animal. that is a signal of a deranged man

I hope you don't eat meat.... pr ever kill bugs for that matter.
Maybe even eat vegetables.. since plants are living things too.

People cook crab and lobster by dropping it in boiling water while it's still alive. It seems to me that the fact that it's easier to relate to the suffering of a puppy instead of a crab or lobster is the main reason why this person was punished and that's not a very good legal basis. Just because something is cute and cuddly doesn't imbue it with extra rights.

You got it wrong. The laws are in place to prevent UNNESESARY suffering.

While I agree that putting a puppy in the oven is cruel and should be illegal, putting a lobster in boiling water is just about as UNNECESSARY as putting a dog in the oven.

I think he was being sarcastic in that statement. You think it would be ok to boil a puppy alive as long as it's for food?
j00 fvcked up maan.

You're right. They can be put in the broiler instead. Or, they can be put in cold water that's quickly brought to a boil. Or, they can be sauteed. Or...

How about not eating them? You can live fine without without lobsters in your diet.

Not so idiotic as ignorant. Many think animal = furry things.

I have debated animals include insects with similar people...you can usually get them to include birds...sometimes fish.

Hate to break it to you, but even being a vegen implies that at some point an animal had to die to feed you. Maybe their habitat was destroyed to make way for your organic tofu or wheat grass, or maybe they died after being run over by a piece of farm equipment. Either way, somethings gotta go. Welcome to reality.

Why to picture the meat you don't have?

Actually, I went and bought a hot dog at lunch to satisfy my hunger. You may wish to learn proper punctuation if you want to try to insult me. Anyway, that hot dog was damn good! :)

Many vegans also don't buy from commericial yards that kill animals to make bigger crops.

I think you are outside your element in this.

Good deal, let him rot the full sentence, and tell the other inmates that he likes hurting cute little puppies.

What is it you are confused about? I'm confused why you are confused!

You posted that being a vegan means animals had to die. Then mention organic tofu and wheat grass. WTF is organic tofu? Then mention things getting run over by farm equipment as if it's a normal day on all farms.

I think you really don't understand what you are talking about.

Sure on big american farms animals die everyday...this is much of which real vegans are trying to undo.
