I'm not gonna pass judgement on your choice of cars, that's fine. I seriously do not think you are being screwed over. You're a piece of sh!t teenager and the world treats you accordingly. Don't believe it? Too bad, you don't have the car, do you? Don't like it? Suck it up.

And I mean when I say "piece of sh!t teenager," you guys are crap. Your response (if any) will surely reflect it.

while not very nice it is true.

there is a reason why teenagers pay more for insurance, get higher interest rates, and just get fvucked over on anything like this. Most are not responsible enough to pay the bill, or they go and runt he darn car into the nearest tree.

You should get a loan. but the interest rate is going to be really high. but good luck!

You should be thanking the dealership for saving you from the massive deprecation.

No, No, No, You must be confusing me with Notfred. My insurance company will loan me 10k for a car loan, but that is all. Im selling the 92 to get sometime nicer/newer, and I want to get an 03 GT.

I have money to make payments on it. How do you think most people get cars, not everybody can pay cash for them, most people have to finance, it is also a benifit to build credit this way.

It's BS that they will only try Ford motor credit. Any decent dealership would try other banks. Some dealerships have systems that allow them to scan all the banks.

As for your choice of cars there is nothing wrong with a Mustang GT. Sounds like you have an older Mustang so you probably know how to drive it reasonably carefully.

Yes I have been driving my mustang for 2 years without tickets/wrecks. Been driving 4 years without tickets or wrecks total by myself. Nothing when I had my permit either. Basically the dealership tried many banks, but they said it is agaist some policy to sell a GT to someone around my age, through anyone from them.

WOW thanks, you are so helpful.

seriously, what the hell do you need a mustang for? your insurance is going to rape you

because he is an idiot

I was asking for help and not for your asshole responses. You don't know what else is going on, I could be in college for all you know, I know what I am doing with life and that is all that matters to me, so if you are not going to help me stay the hell outta my threads!

You don't know me so don't pass judgment on me because of the way another teenager treated you. There are ways around this and thats what im asking help for, not your smartass comments because you are sterotyping me to other teens.

Thank you!

Being able to afford the monthly payments on something is NOT the same as being able to afford it.

Though to each his own I guess.

So I want to buy a new car. I have decided on getting a new mustang GT. I love my 92 5.0 but decided I want something new and nicer.

I went looking around at dealerships and found a 03 Gt with 12,000 miles that I liked. It was mint besides one very minor scratch (VERY MINOR). I got the dealer talked down to 17,500 on it. Which I thought was a fairly good deal on the car.

Well we went to talk about financing with him. HE KNEW I WAS 19, AND WAS THE ONE WANTING THE CAR! Well he said that chances of me getting it by myself would be slim, so my parents, both mom and dad cosigned for me. It was in my name but they where cosigning. Well the credit approval was denied! But the deal said that my dad could put it solely in HIS name, not doing me any good building auto credit, I have some credit, which is good, but no auto credit yet.

Well the more we investigated it we found out the reason the dealership denied me was because they, the dealership hardly EVER gives a 19 year old a GT, because statistically they get returned due to non payment, This is no matter the down payment, no matter how many cosigners and no matter the cosigners auto credit. Well I got in touch with Ford Motor credit and they told me the same thing. Well tell me does the friggin car have a sticker on the window that says must be 21+ to purchase no matter the situation.

So basically there is no way for me to get the car I want other than someone else putting it in their name, is what I have been told. Someone putting it in their name does me no good auto credit wise.

Basically I was hoping someone could help me with this situation. I make enough to pay the payments/insurance (Insurances for me on my own policy on this car is $100-$125 a month). The car payments would be around $300 a month aprox. Depending on interest rate.... I gross around $1,600 a month not counting overtime, which can be like 10-25 hours a month....

Thanks for your help,
Josh

'03 GT? I know all about it!

It's supercharged at just under 400hp. They really recieved a huge kick in the pants in 2003 I think it was. The 2005 is even better though with 300hp/315lb' stock. Anyway, if you have any questions let me know.
Oh, and I have a video I shot with a camcorder of taking it up to 200kph+ on dixie. I held a camcorder while driving. PM me and I'll see if I can get it to you!

Did better than I did when I was your age.

You say State Farm will loan you 10k? Was that with your dad co-signing? If not see if they'll give you more that way. Also sounds like Peoplefirst (capital one) may be a good place to apply. I've had a credit card with Capital One for a few years now and I've had no problems at all with them.

Worse comes to worse you could always save what you need above the 10k State Farm will give you and what you'll sell your 92 for when you are ready. Don't know anything about your 92 5.0 but Edmunds says a stock one is worth about $2000 private party. If you can put aside 500 a month you should be able to have the $17,500 by February of next year. Also if your credit and income improve by then, who knows you may be able to afford a 2005 model if you so desire one. :)

MANY teenagers are irresponsible, but not ALL teenagers are irresponsible. I've never had any type of accident, speeding ticket, parking ticket, or pulled over for anything. I was fortunate enough that my parents bought me my first car and pay for insurance (I think it is around 600 every 6 months) At times I've thought about purchasing another car, but since decided there is no point, my car isn't a beater, and gets me where I need to go :) and to the OP, if you want the car so badly why not pay cash? You'll end up needing that amount of dough eventually for the car, may as well have it up front.

Yea I have thought about the 10k + the rest cash, I can do that in a few months. I have someone that is gonna give me close to 4k for my car, so I would only need 4k more. So that is my most feasable option now. I will see what I can get from peoplefirst.com first though.

Thanks,
Josh

Sonof a!!!!
I seriously hope that was a mistake about insurance. Because for me for full coverage (22, PERFECT record, never even had a parking ticket! No that it would count :) on a 2000 Maxima I pay $1,750 by myself on insurance....

Nope it is $125 a month for full coverage, no deductable. $100 a month for $500 deductable. Thats on my own, NEW policy, If I stayed on my parents policy it would be aroun $75 or so.

Josh

Who the heck do you go through, god I'm getting RAPED....I mean I knew I was getting raped but, good lord....if the Progressive HQ spontaneously ignites in the next month everybody pretend like I wasnt here.

Statefarm

dude you seriously might want to check again.

Where do you live?

I know here in atlanta, any of my friends (19-20) with no tickets ALL pay more than that (2000 maxima, 2001 focus svt, 2002 sentra) for full coverage.

Hell, I pay more than that for LIABILITY on my 98 200sx.

I gotta agree.. it costs me..70 or so bucks/month to insure my 19 year old no tickets no accidents full ride honor student multi-car multi-policy (state farm insures our house too) GIRL (20 next month) on a 1987 taurus wagon (that she hardly even drives because she lives at school 8 months of the year and the car lives at home) in south carolina.. that is full coverage and low (too low.. 50.00 I think) deductable (don't tell ME that's stupid.. heh. I know I know, but it isn't my call..) but the car isn't worth.. hell, I don't know what they'd call totaled on that car.. 1200 bucks? I'm scared to death to find out what it's gonna cost to buy her insurance on a real car.. but I would take 125/month/no deductable full coverage in a heartbeat!

I'm a teenager and I have to agree that about 95% of teen's are dangerous drivers. Then again, even as you get older the percentage doesn't go down that much. Many, many middle aged people dont' know how to drive properly and about 100% of old people suck enough to make iron man scared of their driving ability.

Fortunately I'm in the .00001% of the general population that knows how to drive :)

I know not all teenagers are irresponsible. I was a teenager once and inherited a good deal of money. I did the right thing and put it in the bank and other investments which allowed me to nearly retire at 30.

But MOST teenagers are irresponsible. hence why insurance is higher, they get higher interest rates etc.

why not have your father buy the car, and then have him sell it to you for 1$ (put it on the title), you just need to get someone who you know to put the little stamp thingy on it, and it will be titled in your name, however your father will still have the payments, which you can just make to him.

(did not read thread to see if this was mentioned)

I want to gain the auto credit, And to the guy who wants me to pay cash for it, that does me now good for establishing auto credit, then when I go to get a car later on I will face the same sit. No matter my age, if I don't have auto credit it will still be hard for me to get one.

And to all you saying for me to get something else, Why should I settle for less, and for something that I don't want when there should be a way for me to get what I want.

Yes, im not like the average teen. I have worked hard for what I have, have been given very little other than what I needed. I have worked hard/saved money, but am trying to establish myself some credit. Credit can be a blessing in some situations but it can be bad if its abused. I would just like to have some in case of an exmergency coming up.

Also im not like the average teen driver. I drive very defensive, and like I have sense. Just because im getting a V8 sports car do not think I will be out tearing up the roads and stupid stuff like that. I just want a car that is nice, sporty, and has some umfff for weekend strip fun :p. There is a place to let loose in a car and thats not on the road.

Thanks,
Josh

when i was in HS, i was like 17, and went to the ford dealership to buy the Mustang GT convertible. The salesman was a total a55hole. I told him I want the car, he said that its a very $$$ car, which annoyed me even further (as if i couldn't pay). I told him, my parents were buying me a graduation present (yes, i was rich and spoiled), and he was like "thats an expensive car for someone your age..." I was like "WTF?" We live in a rich area (a classmate of mine got an Acura NSX-T for his graduation gift, delivered a few months before graduation, one of my friends got a BMW 540i), and this guy had the nerve to say that.

man i just think they got something against young people in general. Doesn't matter who you get to co-sign, even if you're parents are loaded. Doesn't matter how much money you got either. They're just a55es.

Secondly, Freejack is right ^^^. Try Peoplefirst.com (Capital One Financing). They are usually pretty good.

you really don't belong in a forum like this. people who give good advice and know what there talking about don't seem to fit in ;)

Still pissed off that no one would tell you where to find poison ivy seeds?
