Man eats nothing but McDonald's for 90 days and loses 37 pounds.

some 500 pounder loses 37 pounds by only eating 2000 calories worth of McSwill per day. big deal.

Might want to go back to the OP. The video of the guy shows the guy is no where near 500 pounds. If I had to guess he was at or under 300 when he started.

And it was a science experiment he did to teach his high school students a lesson.

Study or not, you believe that trans/saturated fats are good for you?

Trans fats are terrible. Saturated fats are no where near as bad for you as they previously thought and some recent studies are show saturated fats aren't whats causing heart disease.

It is the same thing that happened to eggs. IE: OMG eggs(and shrimp) are high in cholesterol, that causes your blood cholesterol to go up. Don't eat many eggs, blah blah blah. Yeah no, that was completely bogus science.

Also it turns out sugar is far worse than you than saturated fat, but yet people still eat shit tons of sugar and refined/processed starches.

Pretty much. Dark meat chicken is healthier than white meat chicken. (And it tastes alot better)

Maybe you can lose weight...but who knows what the long term effects processed foods will have on the body.

Dark meat chicken SUCKS. I had "Chicken Strips" at this soul food place in SD and they efffing used dark meat. Everywhere you go that serves both almost always charges extra for white meat. There's a reason for that.

Dark meat is juicier and tastier. White meat is often dry.

Dark meat is more flavorful, juicier and can take being reheated the next day. White meat chicken is more tender but is more demanding to cook right. It gets tough if overcooked whereas dark meat is more forgiving. Whenever I roast a whole chicken, I try to eat the chick breast first since that will be tougher the next day. The reason for it being more expensive is economics. More in demand and less of it available. I'm glad its priced like this. I like to buy packages of chicken thighs or legs and cook them rather then breasts. Better taste IMO and make great leftovers.

Fried dark meat is terrible. Outside deep frying thighs are far better than breasts.

I've never seen them charge more for white meat, unless you are substituting a piece of dark meat for white meat(typically a breast) and in resturants a chicken breast substitution breasts cost most because they weigh substantially more than a thigh or leg(and they are paying per pound for a case of mixed pieces).

In the US grocery market breasts are more expensive per lb because of the US market. The US is the only market that prefers white meat over dark, so the laws of supply and demand apply and thus breasts are more expensive. Likewise wings are so expensive because the ever increasing popularity of restaurants that only sell wings.

The rest of the world uses thigh/leg quarters(thigh+leg) as their main cut of chicken. The rest of the world isn't addicted to deep frying like the US either.

The news articles and videos I've seen all talk about the teacher and his students having made a documentary of the experiment. Does anyone know if this documentary is available anywhere?

What do you mean? Thighs are dark meat too.

What I was saying was fried legs and thighs are not as good as fried breasts.

When it comes to every other cooking method other than deep frying thighs beat every other chicken cut, except maybe thigh/leg quarters.

For deep frying I use breasts unless I am making wings. For everything else I try to use boneless skinless thighs.

That's for damn sure. Yet they breed chickens and turkeys to have these gargantuan breasts.

Based on what criteria?

Dark meat contains 2.64 times more saturated fat than white meat, per gram of protein.[4] One commentator has pointed out that dark meat contains more vitamins.

Avoiding saturated fats is _far_ higher on my list of priorities.

You're actually going to argue that eating 1000 calories of cheeseburger is as healthy as eating 1000 calories of vegetables and whole grain?

The end result might be the same (you lose X pounds), but there's more to health than weight and cholesterol.

Do you have some objective evidence for this or is it just gut feeling?

Suddenly everyone's a fucking nutritionist. Lol.

All you have to do is keep up with the news/medical news. There has been a lot over the past several years.

It is exactly the same thing that happened with the egg. (ie: eggs are bad for you, then later, oops our bad, eggs aren't bad for you).

Calories in, Calories out is a broken formula.
The man lost weight because he starved his body of nutrients.
McDonald's does not sell food, they sell food like products

I would argue that it's not terribly practical unless you want to log your calories for every single thing you eat. But it works.

That you think trans fats and saturated fats are equivalent shows how much of a moron you are.

I bet you think salt is still bad for you too.

You butthuggers want to say eat natural foods, doesn't get anymore natural for a human than eating the saturated deliciousness of animal fats and meat. Oh and those extremely healthy things called coconuts and their oil.

I bet you also think all calories are equal too. 😉
