I'm sitting here looking at the list of people that won, and I'm pretty non discriminatory about the different genres of music.

Even the categories that I pay attention to, some of the winners were way out of left field, hardly hit the charts where I live (in a fairly vibrant music city). Now I know popularity doesn't dictate quality, but in my cases there were songs that were vastly better composed, and sang, and played.

I don't really get it, the biggest one is how Mary J Blige walked away with best single of the year, best female r&b artist, and one other award where she spends an entire song saying 'I wanna be with you', it sucks.

Also, I'm not a proprietor of conspiracies, but how the hell did the Dixie chicks walk away with 5 awards? Is this some sort of left wing conspiracy? Because they're anti bush, despite their lack of a decent piece of music on their last album they win? I'm a democrat and I think this is democrap.

What the hell is wrong with the people at the grammies!?

How did money maker win for best rap song? How did Ridin' by chamillionaire, which is the epitome of everything thats wrong with Rap, win?

Jeeeeeeeeeeeze.

Seriously.

That comment alone speaks volumes about the importance and validity of the grammys

it's not all bad, Tony Bennett & Stevie Wonder won, both are amazing artists.

Ridin' probably won because 2006 wasn't a good year for good rap. Roots didn't have anything out in time for voting, and really nothing on their album was radio friendly enough to probably even get a nod from the Grammy people any ways. I can't think of any Rap song on the radio in 2006 I loved. Game's One Blood comes to mind, but again I think it was released too late to be considered for voting.

The roots were nominated.. I dunno I was suprised something like Puffy Daddy's new album wasn't nominated, but you're right rap this year was kind of crap.

Most artists tend to be liberal, and they are who vote for Grammy awards. That's why the Dixie Chicks won.
The awards have nothing to do with who is actually the best.

edit: BTW, it's irrelevant whether you are liberal or conservative. The fact is, most artists are libs, and therefore, the Dixie Chicks. They even had Don Henley, a flaming liberal if there ever was one, hand out one of their awards.
