You are just now realizing that the Grammys are messed up?!?! It's not a liberal or conservative thing, if anything they have traditionally been a conservative group, it is an old fogey thing.

Look at past screwups like Jethro Tull taking the first heavy metal award. The Rolling stones never won a grammy until 1997 for Voodoo Lounge which is definitely not one of their best albums. Milli Vanilli taking best new artist. 1992 Nirvana is shut out for Best Rock Song losing to Eric Clapton's 20 year old "Layla" from his unplugged album. 1964 Mary Poppins beats out the Beatle's "Hard Day's Night" for Best Original Score Written for a Motion Picture.

"O, Brother Where Art Thou" beats U2, Outkast and Bob Dylan in 2001 for Album of the Year. 1978 Best New Artist A Taste of Honey beats Elvis Costello and the Cars. 1982 Rick Springfield beats Bruce Springsteen for Best Rock Vocal with "Jesse's Girl". 1998 Will Smith's "Men in Black beats out Missy Elliot and the Notorious BIG for best hip hop song.

I just watch it for the performances - they're entertaining.

I barfed in my mouth a bit when they compared Chris Brown to Smokey Robinson and Lionel Richie. That's just terrible, and his performance sucked.

Was that Rascal Flatts doing the Eagles? Whoever they were, there oughta be a law barring that guy from ever singing an Eagles song again. I thought Underwood's version of Desperado was pretty craptacular as well.

YES - that was the Rascal Flatts guy. It seems like he is ALWAYS doing covers of songs for awards shows and they are always TERRIBLE. The guy can't sing a note - lucky for him it can be masked by singing country. He sang Tom Cochran's "Life is a Highway" at an awards show and it may have been the worst vocal performance I've ever seen.

Agreed. Rascal Flatts makes me nauseous.

That was the only part of it I would have liked to have seen, but we didn't turn it on until after that, apparently.

Also, I'm not a proprietor of conspiracies, but how the hell did the Dixie chicks walk away with 5 awards? Is this some sort of left wing conspiracy? Because they're anti bush, despite their lack of a decent piece of music on their last album they win? I'm a democrat and I think this is democrap.

Seriously.

I thought you were Canadian? How does that allow you to be a Democrat? ;)

IF the Dixie Chicks only won because the industry is all liberal, and because of their Anti-Bush stance, why didn't they win every award for the past 3 or so years while mainstream country (tends to be pretty conservative) was ignoring or outright banning their music from airplay?
I'm not a fan of their music, but I DO support their right to speak out against something they think is wrong, just like I support the right to speak out in favor of something you like...

We Tivo'd the show. There were some great performances:
1) Corinne Bailey Rae
2) John Mayer (He is an awesome git-tar player and song writer!)
3) Gnarls Barkley
4) Justin Timberlake, T.I., and that n00b chick

and an appearance by Al Gore!

The whole show, and all the other award shows (Oscars, Golden Globes )are just hyped advertising PR. They make money, but they are all about getting huge amounts of free advertising.
